Training Programs

 

Northeast Connecticut Aquatics offers training and practice groups for swimmers of all ages and ability levels. The goal is to offer age-specific training for all of our athletes geared towards challenging each individual and developing each individual to the best of THEIR abilities.

8U/Developmental Program

This is a transition program for swimmers coming out of swim lessons.  Athletes in this program are introduced to all 4 competitive strokes.  The goal is to build confidence in each athlete’s abilities and increase growth throughout the season.  Competition is available to anyone in the program that is interested. 

Prerequisites:

Ability to swim 1 lap (25 yards) of Freestyle and 1 lap (25 yards) of Backstroke.

Training Schedule:

8U/Dev Program offers 1-hour practices from 5:00-6:00p M/T/R/F and 1.5 hours from 12:00-1:00p on Sundays.

*There is no Wednesday practice for this program. *

 

Age Group Program

The Age Group Program is for swimmers with some experience in the sport.  The goal is to continue the goals from the 8U/Dev Program with a focus on consistency and strength.  Athletes will learn how to manage workouts by reading workouts and understand timed internals using the clock.  Competition is highly encouraged to everyone in the program that is interested.  Athletes in this group will compete in 50 and 100 yard events, they will also be introduced to 200 yards events.

Prerequisites:

Ability to swim all 4 competitive strokes.

Training Schedule:

Age Group Program offers 1-hour practices from 5:00-6:00p M/T/R/F and 1.5 hours from 12:00-1:30p on Sundays.

*There is no Wednesday practice for this program. *

 

Junior Program

The Junior Program is for swimmers who are goal-oriented with a focus on swimming.  This is where our athletes learn about accountability and responsibility.  Athletes entering this group must display a desire to begin training on a more committed basis.  Competition at swim meets is expected in this group.  Athletes have a desire to make qualifying time standard for travel meets (ISCA, etc.) and championship meets (CT Age Group Championships and CT Senior Championships).

Prerequisites:

Ability to swim 100Y/200Y of all 4 competitive strokes.

Training Schedule:

Junior Program offers 2-hour practices from 6:00-8:00p Monday-Friday, 6:30-8:30a Saturday, and 12:00-2:00p Sunday.

 

Senior Program

The Senior Program is our top level of training.  Athletes in this program have the desire to compete at the highest level.  Several athletes are on the college track with a strong desire to compete collegiately.  Athletes not only compete at all the local CT Championships but also at Sectionals and Junior Nationals. 

Prerequisites:

Ability to swim all 4 competitive strokes.

Training Schedule:

Senior Program offers 2-hour practices from 6:00-8:00p Monday-Friday, 6:30-8:30a Saturday, and 12:00-2:00p Sunday.

 

NCA/High School Program

This program is designed for athlete who swim for their high school team and still want to train/compete with NCA.  Please review our team’s Fee Policy

 

Dive Program

The Diving program has two different training groups. 

Our Age Group Diving program is an introduction to diving.  Athletes come to this program with some experience from gymnastics or summer diving programs. 

The Senior Diving program is designed for competitive divers training for high school competitions.  Several of these athletes are college bound with the desire to compete collegiately.

Prerequisites:

All athletes interested in the program must be evaluated by the Head Dive Coach.

Training Schedule:

Age Group Diving Program offers 1-hour practices from 7:00-8:00p Monday/Tuesday/Thursday.

Senior Diving Program offers 1-hour practices from 7:00-8:00p Monday/Tuesday/Thursday, and 12:00-2:00p Sunday.
