PAC SWIM TEAM REGISTRATION INFORMATION - SPRING/SUMMER 2023
The Spring/Summer Long Course season will begin April 17th. PAC Long Course training will take place primarily at Pomperaug High School. Registration information and an explanation of practice squads follows.
REGISTRATION:
RETURNING PAC SWIMMERS who declared their Intent to Return are invited to register for the 2023 Spring/Summer season via their account on the PAC website.
Registration will be open from March 17 – March 31.
Go to the Team Website and click TEAM REGISTRATION in the banner and follow the prompts.
Complete and acknowledge all parts of the registration. Payment will be required at the end of registration. All fees may be paid online with a credit card. You may elect a one-time payment or installments. If opting to pay in installments, the expiration date on your credit card must be later than 7/15/2023.
If swimmers are not registered by 3/27, open roster sports may be offered to new swimmers.
PRACTICE SQUADS AND FEES (payable to PAC):
Swimmers who did not swim during the 2022-2023 Fall/winter season, or who did not register for 2023 with USA Swimming, will be required to do so prior to the start of practice. Once your registration on the website is complete you will receive an email with instructions on how to register your swimmer. The USA Swimming registration fee is $80.00.
Squad practice times are tentative and will change mid-June. Confirmed practice times will be posted to the team website and emailed.
ELITE COMPETITION SQUAD
- The Elite Competition Squad is designed for our fastest high school athletes to fine tune stroke mechanics and increase their endurance, speed, and strength in the water. These swimmers are ready to commit to high intensity workouts with a minimum of 8-10 hours of practice per week, 5 days a week. These practices may be enhanced with morning, weekend and/or long course practice sessions.
- Elite Competition swimmers will be expected to attend 90% of practices. Participation in meets and end of season championships is required.
- Tentative practice schedule:
Monday 4-5:30 pm
Tuesday & Thursday 7:15-8:45 pm
Wednesday & Friday 4-6 pm
- The season will run from April 17th – mid-July.
ELITE PRACTICE SQUAD
The Elite Practice Squad is designed for our high school athletes desiring to work on stroke mechanics while maintaining endurance, speed, and strength in the water. Practice is 1-1.5 hours per day, 5 days a week. These practices may be enhanced with optional morning, weekend and/or long course practice sessions.
- Elite Practice swimmers will be expected to attend 90% of practices and are encouraged to compete in meets during the season and championship meet at the end of the season.
- This squad is also suited for the dual-sport high school athlete.
- Tentative practice schedule:
Monday 4-5:30 pm
Tuesday & Thursday 7:15-8:15 pm
Wednesday & Friday 4-5 pm
- The season will run from April 17th to mid-July.
SENIOR SQUAD
- The Senior Squad is designed for our middle school and upper elementary school swimmers who want to continue to work on stroke mechanics and increase their endurance, speed, and strength in the water. This group will train at high intensity for 1.25-1.5 hours per day, 5 days a week. There may be optional weekend and long course practice sessions available.
- Senior Squad swimmers will be expected to attend 90% of practices and are encouraged to compete in meets during the season and championship meet(s) at the end of the season. We understand that many of these younger swimmers will be participating in other Spring sports. On days they are not playing their Spring sport, they must be at practice.
- Tentative practice schedule:
Monday 7:15-8:45 pm
Tuesday & Thursday 4-5:30 pm
Wednesday & Friday 7-8:30 pm
- The season will run from April 18th to mid-July.
PANTHER RED SQUAD
- The Panther Red Squad is designed for swimmers who are working on proficiency in all strokes.
- This squad will train 5 days a week for one hour, working on specifics stroke mechanics, starts, turns, and increasing endurance in the pool.
- Panther Red Squad swimmers are expected to attend as many practices as possible.
- Participation in meets is encouraged.in preparation for Regional Championships in July.
- For swimmers opting not to compete at meets and therefore, not at Regional Championships, should register for Panther Grey and expect to end the season mid-June.

Wednesday & Friday 6-7 pm
- The season will run from April 17th to mid-July.
PANTHER GREY SQUAD
- This squad will train 3 days a week for 1 hour, working on specific stroke mechanics, starts, turns, and increasing endurance in the pool.
- The season will end at the end of the school year. Swimmers are encouraged to then swim with the Summer Sharks over the summer to stay in the water and continue working on technique.
- Tentative practice schedule:
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday 6:15-7:15 pm
- The season will run from April 17th to mid-June.
8/UNDER RED SQUAD
- The 8/Under Squad is designed for our younger athletes who love the sport of swimming and are anxious to continue to train in the spring. Continued emphasis on stroke development in all four strokes, streamline, starts and turns.
- This squad will train 3x/week for 45 minutes.
- 8/Under Squad swimmers should attend as many practices as possible to benefit from instruction and conditioning and may compete in meets if they would like.
- The season will end at the end of the school year. Swimmers are then encouraged to swim with the Summer Sharks over the summer to stay in the water and continue working on technique.
- Tentative practice schedule:
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday 5:30-6:15 pm
- The season will run from April 17th to mid-June.
8/UNDER GREY SQUAD (formerly Cubs)
- There will not be a formal Cub Squad for the 2023 spring/summer season.
- 8/U Grey is designed for returning 6 year olds and 7/8 year olds who can swim 25 yards of freestyle and backstroke but continue to need stroke development.
- This squad will train twice a week for 45 minutes.
- This squad will not compete.
- Tentative practice schedule:
Monday & Thursday 5:30-6:15 pm
- The season will run from April 17th to mid-June.
NOTE: Practice will not be held if there are conflicts at Pomperaug High School or with the pool. Make up practices for cancellations are not guaranteed.
COMPETING IN MEETS: Swimmers are encouraged to swim in meets to gauge practice progress. Meets will be posted on the PAC website under MEETS/EVENTS. Summer meets fill up very quickly so we will ask you to commit early. You may do so on the Meet page. As the dates of the meets approach you will be able to scratch if you determine that you have a conflict. There are meet fees associated with each event your swimmer enters which will be posted to your PAC account.
Once you register and your registration is approved, you will be able to sign your swimmer up for meets.
UNIFORM: Swimmers should arrive at the pool for practice in their practice suit, with goggles and a cap if they have long hair, a water bottle and a towel. Coaches will notify swimmers of any training equipment needed.
Team suits should NOT be worn to practice. Anyone needing a new team suit may order one from Metro Swim Shop. Information is on the website under EQUIPMENT & SUITS.
PRACTICE: The practice schedule will be posted on the team website under the CALENDAR. Any changes to this calendar will be emailed. Check the team website regularly.

FINANCIAL POLICIES:
Once a swimmer’s registration is processed for the upcoming season, there will be no prorating of fees or refunds for failure to practice, unless a valid doctor’s note for a long term illness or injury is presented. In this case, fees will be prorated by month for the remainder of the season. A $25 cancellation processing fee will be applied.
PAYMENT METHOD – CHECK
- If membership fees are to be paid by check, fees must be paid in full.
PAYMENT METHOD - CREDIT CARD
- All member families are encouraged to link a credit card to their account. We do not have access to this number once it is stored; we are only able to post charges to the card.
- Any family wishing to pay in installments MUST use a credit card for payment.
- Any family wishing to pay membership fees in installments using a credit card, must provide a current credit card number with date of expiration later than the last day of the season.
- Any family paying in installments will be charged on the first of the month for that month’s membership fee installment.
- In order to participate in meets, a credit card must be on file. The credit card on file will be charged for meet fees on the day meet fees are posted to the account.
All outstanding fees must be paid before a swimmer may be re-registered for the upcoming season.
