8/under Pinktacular Information

Team Administrator Williams

Good Afternoon!

This weekend we will be kicking off our 2020-2021 competition season with our annual Breast Cancer Awareness Month swim meet-- THE PINKTACULAR! We can’t be more excited to see everyone racing. Below you will find some meet information and helpful notes. Please read through them carefully.

Meet info:

This meet is one day only. All 8/u red & blue group swimmers will swim Saturday 10/17/20.

  • Arrive: No later than 2:45 p.m.

  • Warmup: 3:00 p.m.

  • Meet Start: 3:35 p.m.

What each swimmer needs:

  • Plastic/ziplock bag for mask

  • Extra towels (2)

  • Water Rat apparel

  • Team bathing suit (if your swimmer does not have a Wrats team suit yet, please send them to swim in a suit they would be able to swim comfortably in at practice-- no board shorts, no two pieces.)

  • Team Cap (wear your Pink cap from last year if you can find it)

  • We have Pink WRAT caps for all new 8/u swimmers

Parking:

Parents can park in the YMCA lot as normal.

Entry:

If you plan to sign your swimmer up please do so by TOMORROW, Wednesday 10/14/20.

Each swimmer will compete in three of the following events: 25 Butterfly, 25 Backstroke, 25 Breaststroke, and 25 Freestyle. Individual

Livestream and Meet Mobile:

We will be live streaming this event! Instant results will be uploaded onto an app called “Meet Mobile.” I would strongly suggest downloading this app and subscribing to it. Our meet can be found by typing “Westport” in the search engine. We will also be sending out a Zoom link that will show the competition from inside the pool room.

Logistics:

In order to keep swimmers distanced during this event, the meet will take place in only 5 lanes (2,4,6,8, and 10). After each heat, each 8/u swimmer will take a “recovery lap” back to the deep end of the pool. There, they can grab their mask and return to their assigned seat.  This will be an easy lap, not another racing length. We are going to take our time with this group to ensure that everyone has the safest and best experience possible.

I am beyond excited for Saturday. It will be my third PINK MEET with the Wrats and it is hands down one of my favorite events we host throughout the year.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask!

SWIM FAST!!

GO WRATS!!
