Weekly Update 9.13 - 9.19

Amber Albe

Hi, Dolphins Families,

Week one has gone swimmingly so far. I’m loving the new and familiar faces with us again this season! If you have not registered for the team yet, please be sure to do so ASAP.

COVID-19 Procedure Reminders

Everyone has done their part to remain safe and healthy so far this week. We appreciate that continued diligence as the season progresses. Just a few notes:

  • Please remember that swimmers must use the Wallace Street side doors for check in and health survey. Rather than coaches coming to vehicles, please send swimmers to the door (swimmers cannot enter until the previous practice group has exited).

  • Masks and 6 feet of social distance are required when entering and exiting the building, as well as on-deck until swimming.

  • For those parents and swimmers that like to hang outside before/after practices, please keep your masks on and remember to maintain a proper social distance. I love that everyone gets a chance to socialize before/after practices since we don’t get that very often these days, but please follow these rules even outdoors.

  • A few swimmers have attended practice without items like goggles/cap, water-bottles, kickboards, etc. Remind swimmers to bring that gear with them because we have to avoid sharing of personal items.

Thank you kindly for this effort!

“In-the-Works”

I am including this as a section this week because we have a few things that are gaining traction but aren’t quite finalized. Keep these on your radar.

  • Meet Schedule

    • The Yankee Cluster League is putting together a tentative meet schedule this week. I’m hoping to work out the basics on procedures and session capacity at that time and will share with the team next week.

    • A team suit, cap, bag, etc. order will soon be available with Metro Swim Shop.

  • Fundraising Efforts

    • Given the circumstances of the last few months, we’ve been limited in our fundraising opportunities. With conversation with the PA and others, we have a few options we’re working on. If you want to get involved with any of these efforts or have some good ideas, let me know!

      • Team Apparel (Masks)

      • Can/Bottle Drive

      • Dolphins Trunk-or-Treat

  • All Parent’s Meeting

    • An All-Parents Zoom Meeting will be scheduled in the next week (tentatively for Sunday, September 26, but to be finalized).

From the Parents Association (Notes and Votes!)

In an effort to communicate the needs of the Parents Association and the team, we will be including recaps of our conversations as needed. These will also be posted under the Parents Info -> Meeting Minutes tab on TeamUnify and communicated in Weekly Updates. Attached is the recap from our most recent meeting.
