INDIANA SWIMMING WELCOMES ANTHONY ERVIN TO THE MULTICULTURAL CAMP

Anthony Ervin, 3x Olympian, 3x Olympic Gold Medalist

Anthony Ervin grew up in Southern California.  He chose Cal-Berkeley for college and after his freshman year made the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games. In Sydney, he tied for the gold medal in the 50 freestyle. A few years later, Anthony became NCAA champion and World Champion. Disillusioned with the rapid success and sport’s demand, Anthony retired and disappeared for almost 10 years. While teaching swimming and working jobs to sustain himself he realized he missed his life as a professional swimmer. The technique and attitude training he gave to his swimmers in lessons made him think about a comeback. In 2011 he moved back to Cal Berkeley and started showing up with the men's team training. Just a year later Anthony qualified for the 2012 London Olympic Team and got 5th in the 50 freestyle. At the 2016 Olympics, Anthony upset the world and won Gold in the 50m freestyle, 16 years after his first gold medal. At 32 years old he became the oldest man in history to win an individual gold medal. After 3 Olympic Games, 4 Olympic medals and numerous American and World Records, many consider him one of the fastest swimmers ever.
