2021 Championship Season Information
Across the country many of our LSC partners struggle for access to pools to provide opportunities to participate in the sport we love. In Indiana it has not gone unnoticed that our Clubs, Coaches & Athletes, Officials & Volunteers have set the standard in safety that allows our pools to remain open to practice and compete.
Since the beginning of March of 2020 our Indiana Swimming Athletes have not experienced a championship meet. To be able to create a viable Championship Season that allows all our athletes to have an opportunity to compete within State & Local Health Guideline it became imperative that unique formats needed to be created. We must make the responsible decisions on the information we have today.
A Task Force compiled of LSC Committee Chairs & Staff worked diligently focusing on the priority first, the safety of our swimmers and their families, followed by giving our swimmers the opportunity to race at a high level.  With these areas of consideration at the forefront, the number of athletes and maximum capacity in our host venues then become the driving force behind the development of our Championship Season. Other considerations included the number or families required to travel, athlete access to their coaches, coaching availability, volunteer availability and session timelines.
On Monday January 18 th Indiana Swimming Board of Directors approved Championship formats that provide safe and competitive championship meet participation during the Covid-19 environment while observing all National, State & Local Health & Safety requirements and protocols. The decision by the Board includes the following:
  • Without adhering to the local safety protocols and structuring our athlete participation count appropriately, we cannot have a championship season. Thus, our Championship Meets will be conducted with no spectators to allow ALL our athletes the opportunity to compete and have the required space to adhere to all social distancing safety protocols.
  • The Age Group State and Senior State Short Course Championships will be run as timed final / split site formats (North & South) located at the IU Natatorium & the Elkhart, IN.
  • The 7 Divisional Meets will be run as a 2.5 day timed final format
Please click on the Championship Meet Information Page Link Below to find information on the desired Information for each meet. Information will be added frequently, check back to stay current.
We realize that these new formats may send teams to a new competition site and know that has an impact to everyone involved. We appreciate everyone’s patience as we navigate these uncharted circumstances. Please know we remain committed to taking all appropriate measures to ensure that every decision we make is one that focuses on the health and safety of our athletes, members, staff, and volunteers.
