By joining USMS when pre-registering for your event at 2021 Nationals, you’ll experience all the benefits of USMS membership, including eligibility for National Championship awards. Those not wishing to join USMS will pay a supplemental $15 non-member (One-Event) fee when pre-registering for their event.


Race Day Timeline

Park Opens - 6:00AM. 

Registration is from 6:45 to 8:30 A.M.

Race Start/Cutoff Times

The 5k swim starts at 9:00 A.M. / 2.5k swim waves will begin at 9:10 A.M.

There will be two waves of each race. Race start times are approximate.

Registration is from 6:45 to 8:30 A.M.  The waves will be denoted by different color caps and start 5 minutes apart.

  ******Cutoff Times****** 

Cutoff time will be 11:00 A.M. for both races.  5k swimmers not passing turn buoy 6 after their first lap 60 minutes from the start will be directed to swim to shore from turn buoy 6 and be disqualified.  2.5k swimmers not passing turn buoy 6, 85 minutes from the start will be disqualified and removed from the course by safety personnel and be disqualified






USMS Awards

5k/2.5k Swim - Medals will be given to the first 3 finishers in each sex/age in the Category 1 (non-wetsuit division) (19-24, 25-29, etc).

Category 2 (Wetsuit Division): Medals will be given to the first 3 men and the first 3 women in the wetsuit division in each race.


Preliminary results for races will be posted on site 30 min after the last swimmer in both races finish. Official results will be posted on this site and on 


COVID 19 Protocols 

We will follow all Alameda County and East Bay Parks COVID-19 protocols a the time of event.  We plan to provide a disposable mask to swimmers that can be worn until entering the water.  A disposable mask will be given to each swimmer upon exit from the race.   We appreciate everyones adherence to state, and local guidelines at the time of the event.


Expected water temperature: 68-75 degrees. Each course is patrolled by safety craft. Participants should be adequately trained for open water swims of this length. Previous experience in similar water conditions is highly recommended. All swimmers must wear the provided swim cap and follow all USMS rules. 

Warm-up in designated roped in swim area only–swimming outside of this area for warm up will result in disqualification.
