Assistant Coach

Jersey Storm Swimming is seeking a motivated, innovative, and inspirational assistant coach to work with our head coach to continue to grow our team and inspire and improve the performance of our swimmers.

 

Jersey Storm is a non-profit, year-round, USA Swimming competitive swim team of 40+ swimmers that is managed by a Parent Board of Directors. Our competitive program consists of three levels: Senior, Junior, and Developmental. We are located in Bordentown, NJ (Middle Atlantic LSC) and our practice facility is located at Team85. The team is currently growing and is located in an area with an increasing population.
 

The Assistant Coach position is a part-time position that requires 3-6 days/week commitment (~2-3hrs/day coaching) plus a weekend meet approximately once per month. Some additional off-deck time required to fulfill coaching duties and responsibilities (e.g., practice planning, meet entries, etc). The position offers an hourly salary, sick pay, and reimbursement for board approved travel and certification/educational fees required for the position.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Provide input to head coach to develop and implement year-round and seasonal training plans for your training group
  • Coach/manage a training group to ensure the teaching of proper stroke technique and implementation of the training plan
  • Inspire, encourage, and motivate each swimmer to realize their full potential in the sport of swimming
  • Teach life skills such as self-discipline, self-confidence, good sportsmanship, goal setting and working to achieve goals
  • Assign meet events/entries to swimmers and ensure swimmers are entered in meets
  • Coach training group/team at meets (~1 meet/month)
  • Create an educational, safe, & inviting experience for all swimmers
  • Initiate, develop & maintain positive relationships with ALL swimmers in training group

Education/Experience:

  • High School graduate with Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Prior swim coaching experience and a competitive swimming background
  • Knowledge of proper swimming technique, training science, and stroke/distance specific racing background. 
  • Detail oriented with excellent communication and organization skills
  • Experience using Team Unify (preferred)

 

Licenses/Certifications/Registrations:

  • Certified coaching member of USA Swimming
  • ASCA Level 1/2 certification or higher (preferred)

Westtown Aquatic Club

Westtown Aquatic Club (WA) is looking for part-time coaches starting September 2022 for the 2022-2023 short course season.

Friends Central Aquatics (FCA), a year round swim team with over 150 swimmers, based in Wynnewood,

LOWER MORELAND (LMOR) - ASSISTANT COACH

LMOR is currently seeking a knowledgeable, energetic and reliable applicant for our assistant coach position. The assistant coach reports directly to the Head Coach and is responsible for on deck coaching of our: developmental group, age group and senior level groups. This is a year-round position, approximately 20-25 hours per week to start and there are opportunities to increase responsibilities as the fall season approaches. The Assistant Coach may be asked to attend competitions as well. The assistant coach  may also have the opportunity to instruct swim lessons in the private, semi-private and group lesson capacity, for additional income.

Duties are to include, but are not limited to:

  • Directly coaching 20-30 developmental swimmers, 40-50 age group swimmers, 30-40 senior level swimmers at practices and meets 
  • The swim coach is responsible for providing opportunities for youth to succeed, develop and strengthen physical and social skills through practices and competition, as well as being responsible for the safety of swimmers and following Fitness & Wellness guidelines.
  • Working collaboratively with the Head Coach and other full-time coaches/ instructors to set group progressions, team goals, and program goals.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Head Coach.
  • Must truly enjoy working with kids, have a sense of humor, and an ability to meld with the training philosophy of a different coach/program.

Qualifications:
We are looking for a reliable, responsible, and driven individual with high energy and enthusiasm. A successful applicant must have a passion for the sport; prior coaching experience and demonstrate an ability to communicate effectively with superiors, parents and connect with children/ teenage swimmers.

SUBURBAN SEAHAWKS CLUB

Suburban Seahawks Club (SSC) is a non-profit, 250+ member, competitive aquatics, USA Swimming Silver Medal Club. SSC’s primary location is a club owned, 25 yard 8-lane pool with a 2 lane teaching pool, dry-land room, with additional practices held at Swarthmore College.

SSC is seeking qualified applicants for an Assistant Coach positions, primarily working with swimmers ages 6-14, but should be able to coach all age groups. The interested applicant should have prior coaching experience, willing to coach under the direction and philosophy of SSC and Head Coach Charlie Kennedy. The applicant must be willing to work evenings (practices are held during the 4:15-8:30 pm time frame), and work weekend USA swimming meets approximately 1 weekend per month. The candidate must have (or be willing to obtain) USA Swimming Coaches Certification (which includes Safety Training for Swim Coaches, CPR, First Aid), and up to date back ground checks (per USA Swimming guidelines).

Parkland Swimming Club - HEAD AGE GROUP COACH

JOB OBJECTIVES:

Under general supervision from the Head Program Coach, performs tasks to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of Parkland Swimming Club’s (PSC) Age Group programming and training development.

 

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:

This position has responsibility to instruct and participate with PSC’s USA Swim Team.  This position also requires strict adherence to the Minor Athlete Abuse Prevention Policy regulated by Safe Sport USA.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Participates in the instruction and functions of PSC and monitors the activities and programming of the club with general supervision from the Head Program Coach.
  • Assists with developing new procedures to ensure efficient implementation of activities.
  • Develop and advance all USA Swimming related programming and items therein.
  • Assists staff with handling difficult situations and makes judgments on how to direct concerns to ensure optimal outcome.
  • Performs general janitorial duties as needed and maintains equipment, facility and environment in a safe and sanitary condition.
  • Creates and implements the Age Group Programming and is responsible for all age-group programming oversight.
  • Collaboratively works with the Team Communications Director (newsletter, social media).
  • Performs other work as assigned.
 

JOB STANDARDS:

INITIAL TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: 1 Year Contract, effective the negotiated contract start date, with a 6 month assessment of terms and expectations.

 

SPECIFIC CONTRACT TARGETS:

  1. Maintain a satisfactory rating on all conflict resolutions, if any.
    Target: End of Year

  2. Maintain an age group competitive group retention rate of 85% or higher.
    Target: End of Year

  3. Develop a 3 year Strategic Plan with the Program Head Coach.
    Target: 6 Months

  4. Name an 8 and Under, 11-12, and 13-14 Group Director. The Head Age Group Coach may determine their personal group leadership role.
    Target: 3 Months

  5. Expand PSC’s community outreach to assist the low-income/special needs communities within Parkland School District and adjacent local communities to be good stewards of swimming in the community.
    Target: End of year.

Position Purpose:
Under the direction of the Aquatic Leader, the Coach Leader manages the swim team in accordance with the rules and regulations set forth by the YMCA of the USA as well as the rules from their respective swimming league. Our home pool is an indoor, eight lane 50 meter by 25 yards with 23 lanes available for short course training. The team is traditionally one of the top programs in the Middle Atlantic LSC, both at the age group and senior team levels and has developed National and Junior National Champions as well as many junior national, national, and Olympic Trial qualifiers. Job Description:
We are seeking an enthusiastic, organized, and professional swim coach to serve as both the assistant for our National group and Head Coach of one of our top age group practice groups. The right person possesses strong communication skills, is knowledgeable of the TeamUnify platform, and knows how to write a workout and season plan for the 11-14 age groups. This position will include administrative duties outside of those required for the head coach of a practice group.

Responsibilities:
· Head coach for our Gold 2 group (11-14 years old) six practices per week, 11.5 months out of the year.
· Assistant coach for our National group (high school ages) 6-8 practices per week, 11.5 months out of the year.
· Attend 1-2 swim meets a month (both local and travel) as assigned by the head coach.
· Oversee athlete progression and contribute to upward trajectory of athletes through all levels of the program.

· Perform administrative duties (8-10 hours per week) including scheduling of staff, assisting head coach in oversight and mentoring of staff, parent communication, and oversight of the team’s various social media accounts. Other administrative duties to be assigned.
· Participate and engage in program season and future planning exercises.
· Oversight and management of one major fundraising activity per year.

Minimum Qualifications:
· 4+ years of USA Swimming team coaching leading high level age group (11+ year olds) or senior level swimmers.
· Currently credentialed USA Swimming coach (all current USA Swimming coach member requirements either fulfilled or able to be immediately re-certified).
· Proven ability to foster an environment of inclusion and excellence in swimming through dryland, in-water practices, other team activities, and competitions.
· Understands proper technique, stroke development, and advanced aerobic training for age group and senior swimmers.
· An interest in continuing education. We are looking for a coach who is continually striving to gain more knowledge, be curious, and share this knowledge with the swimmers and fellow staff members.

Head Site Swim Coach - Hershey Aquatic Club

The Hershey Aquatic Club (HAC) is a highly respected and competitive 150+ member, USA Swimming Level 2 competitive swim program, located in Hershey, Pennsylvania. We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Assistant Swim Coach. HAC primarily competes in USA Swimming in Middle Atlantic swim meets in addition to local league meets in Central Pennsylvania. Emmaus Aquatic Club:  

The Emmaus Aquatic Club (EMAC) is the steward of the sport of swimming in the East Penn School District and surrounding areas.  EMAC consists of 3 divisions - swim lessons, competitive swimming, and pool management.

Pool Management Division:  

Recreational swimming and competitive swimming opportunities are dependent upon each other.  Our Pool Management Division enables EMAC to facilitate recreational swimming in the area.

Pool Management Director:

Oversee and manage the Pool Management Division of the Emmaus Aquatic Club.

Job Duties:

  1. Manage contracts for current clients.
  2. Annually evaluating and developing contacts and relationships.
  3. Oversee the personnel process for the Pool Management Division (recruit, hire, certify, etc.)
  4. Oversee operational process for the Pool Management Division (In compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and Industry Standards)
  5. Work with CEO to develop the yearly budget for the Pool Management Division.  
  6. Work with CEO to continually monitor performance and operations of the Pool Management Division.
  7. Work with the Office Manager to continually monitor administrative roles and responsibilities.

Parkland Aquatic Club (PAAC) - Part Time Swim Coach (5/14/20)

PAAC, a USA Swimming level 3 club as well as a Bronze Medal Club, located in Allentown, PA., is looking for an energetic and motivated part-time age group coach for the 2020-2021 competitive year.

Duties & Responsibilities Include:

State College Area YMCA (SCAY) - Full Time Head Swim Team Coach  (4/17/20)

The State College Branch of the YMCA of Centre County is seeking an experienced Head Swim Team Coach for their team of 150+ swimmers!

This is a full-time position with a comprehensive benefits package.  Successful applicants will have at least 5 years of coaching experience that demonstrates successful program development and management, character-driven leadership, excellent communication skills, and a personal commitment to the YMCA core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.  The Head Coach will be responsible for developing and supervising practices for all levels of swimmers; hiring, training, scheduling, and mentoring assistant coaches; and working closely with the parent committee on tasks such as recruiting and managing meet volunteers.  Previous experience with Meet Manager and Team Unify software preferred as is a current lifeguard certification; familiarity with the Y-USA swim lesson curriculum; and USA Swimming and YMCA Swim Coach certifications. Expected start date is Spring 2020.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of aquatic experience as a competitive swimmer or aquatic instructor
  • 2 years of competitive coaching

Essential Functions

  • Plan, organize, and develop the swim team program.  Plan, attend, and direct team practices as scheduled.  Schedule practice times within the guidelines set by the Aquatics Director.
  • Ensure the safety of participants at all times.
  • Recruit, hire, develop, and train a group of 6 to 8 assistant coaches.
  • Manage and supervise assistant coaches to meet program and safety objectives, and to build a positive team culture that promotes individual growth and team building.
  • Maintain proper team records and file reports as needed.
  • Attend all YMCA league meetings and team meets.  Coordinate entry information to meet all deadlines. Attend/organize USA Swimming meet participation as needed.
  • Relate to the individual swimmers on a personal basis at practice, at meets, and through goal setting, instruction and positive encouragement.
  • Relate to parents' concerns through individual contact by appointment, phone calls, or emails. Utilize parent board for support and advisory functions. Attend and actively participate in all parent board meetings.
  • Initiate and maintain active communication concerning all aspects of the program with assistant coaches, swimmers, parents and necessary Y staff.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Aquatics Director.

Gettysburg YWCA (GETY) - Part Time Assistant Coach  (4/17/20)


The Gettysburg Sharks Swim Team (GETY) in Gettysburg, PA is looking for a Part-Time Head Coach and Assistant Coaches.

Westtown Aquatic Club (WA) – Assistant Director of Aquatics  (2/5/20)

This Position is an 11 month, salaried position with medical benefits. Pay is commensurate with experience.

  Westtown Aquatic Club (WA) is looking for an Assistant Director of Aquatics. WA is located on the grounds of Westtown School. A pre-k through 12, Quaker boarding school located in the back roads of West Chester, Pa.  Interested applicants should have prior USA-swimming coaching experience or college level swimming experience.  Hourly rate will be commensurate with experience.

Duties and responsibilities;  

  • Westtown Aquatic Club: Working with the aquatic club (approximately 20-24 hours of coaching during certain times of the year) for practice and meets. Candidates will work with all ages and abilities within the aquatic program but main focus is on the 10 and under (6 days a week).
  • Upper School Head Coach: Working in conjunction with Westtown School athletics. This is a two season position (fall for condition swimming/ winter varsity swimming).
  •   Westtown Swim School Coordinator: Working with the Director of Auxiliary Initiative overseeing curriculum of swim school groups
  •   Additional work available through rental swim lesson groups, dorm parent (if available) and as a summer camp supervisor.  

Qualifications:

  • · 2-4 years working in an age group or college setting.
  • · Previous high school and college swimming experience is mandatory.
  • ·Ability to work afternoons, nights and 1-2 weekends a month.
