Director of Friends' Central Aquatics Programs and Varsity Swim Coach 

Friends’ Central Aquatics (FCA), one of the largest USA Club Swim Programs in Middle Atlantic Swimming,
is looking for a full-time Director of Aquatics and Head Swim Coach for both Friends’ Central Aquatics and
Friends’ Central School (FCS). The successful candidate will have a passion for swimming, a strong
competitive spirit, the ability to inspire confidence, motivation, and loyalty, and a tremendous attention to
detail. This position offers a dedicated coach the opportunity for tremendous development and growth on
the local, regional, and national levels. Compensation is competitive and includes four weeks paid vacation,
and health, dental, and pension benefits. It also includes the opportunity for additional income through
private lessons and commission incentives.

Responsibilities:
1) Ensures continued growth and excellence of FCA and FCS Swim Programs.
2) Plans a coordinated team training and competition schedule each season for both FCA and FCS
Swim Programs. 3) Recruits, hires, and supervises diverse staff and volunteers and further onboards and develops them
for success, including professional development and evaluation.
4) Adheres to all USA Swimming and Middle Atlantic Swimming guidelines and policies.
5) Ensures robust marketing of the club, including the development and maintenance of an electronic
parent newsletter, website and the club’s social media accounts.
6) Models relationship-building skills in all interactions. Develops and maintains collaborative
relationships within the FCA and FCS community. Maintains regular, clear, and concise
communication to all members of the FCA and FCS communities.

Essential Job Tasks:
1) Participates in the development of annual operating budgets for approval by the FCS Business
Manager and manages club revenues and expenses in keeping with the budget.
2) Prepares monthly and annual statistical reports on relevant program data.
3) Represents the organization at various community and/or business meetings, committees, and task
forces; promotes existing and new programs and/or policies.
4) Provides hands-on direction for the Age Group swim team program on a daily basis, including writing
practices consistent with the program’s approach and focus, as well as conducting practices for several
different levels within the Age Group Programs.
5) Oversees assistant coaches working with the Age Group swimmers.
6) Develops effective communication (both written and verbal) with swimmers and parents.
7) Coordinates meet entries with assistant coaches for Age Group swimmers.
8) Oversees club website and social media administration.
9) Manages team enrollment and any on deck matters for Age Group swimmers at practices and meets.
10) Substitutes for other coaches as needed.
11) Other duties as assigned.
 
Job Status: Exempt, full time, 12 months

Candidate Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or  university, competitive experience in High School, College and USA Club swimming, at least 5+ years of
coaching and administrative experience in USA Swimming. ASCA Level 3 Certification is preferred; Level 2 is
required. Lifeguard and First Aid/CPR certification are required. S/he should have strong written and verbal
communication skills and display excellent judgement. Knowledge of Hy-Tek’s Meet Manager and Team
Manager software, a familiarity with basic web content management, and social media is highly desirable.
Candidates should have very high organizational, computer, and administrative skills. Candidates must pass
the USA Swimming Coaching certification and background check requirements prior to final hire. We are

Friends’ Central Aquatics is a dynamic club with a committed core of 150+ swimmers, a supportive parent
body, and an enthusiastic staff, looking to increase training and performance requirements. The club was
founded in 2001 and has grown into one of the largest USA Club Swimming programs in the region. We are
coach-run with strong staff and swimmer retention. The club currently trains in two locations just outside
Philadelphia, PA. Our facilities include a fitness room, athletic fields and track, and an Endless Elite Pool. We
host several short course meets each year. FCA also runs a very popular Saturday Swim School that offers
both private and group lessons. Friends’ Central School has a successful swim program that has earned 27
total Friends Schools League titles with the boys’ team accounting for 16 of those, capturing every league title
since 2004. The girls’ team has accounted for 11 of those, capturing every league title from 2006-13 and again
from 2017 to present. FCS has sent many swimmers on to compete at the next level; in total, the boys’ and
girls’ teams have sent more than 40 athletes on to swim in college.

Suburban Seahawks Club – Part time Coach. Two open positions for late August 2020.

**Note, if looking for a full time job with benefits this can be combined with our Aquatics Manager position.

Suburban Seahawks Club (SSC) is a non-profit, 250+ member, competitive aquatics, USA Swimming Silver Medal Club. SSC’s primary location is a club owned, 25 yard 8-lane pool with a 2 lane teaching pool and dry-land room.

SSC is seeking qualified applicants for an age group coach position, primarily working with swimmers ages 8-14, but should be able to coach all age groups. The interested applicant should have prior experience and be willing to coach under the direction and philosophy of SSC Head Coach Charlie Kennedy. The applicant must be willing to work evenings (practices are held during the 3:30-9:00 pm time frame), and work weekend USA swimming meets approximately 1 weekend per month. The candidate must have (or be willing to obtain) USA Swimming Coaches Certification (which includes Safety Training for Swim Coaches, CPR, First Aid), and up to date background checks (per USA Swimming guidelines).

Salary is hourly, part time and is commensurate with experience. Additional hours available as a life guard or swim instructor are available. Suburban Seahawks Club - Aquatics Manager/Head Lifeguard

This Position is a salaried position with medical benefits. Pay is commensurate with experience. Position starts in August of 2020. (Note- this job could be combined with a part time coaching position if interested in full time.)

SSC is located in Newtown Square, PA and is looking for a reliable individual to join the aquatics team as a full time employee. This person will work under designated SSC Supervisors, Board of Directors & with all members of the SSC aquatics team.

The Aquatics Manager is responsible for maintaining a safe environment for members, communicating with patrons & other employees, overseeing the aquatics area, providing work direction to staff, and performing life guarding duties themselves.

In addition to the above the person will be accountable for:
· Acting as a lead contact for all lifeguard staff, ensure all shifts are covered & follow all SSC communication protocols.
· Inspecting and maintaining facility equipment.

Position Requirements
· 2-3 years life guarding experience with preference given to those with relevant staff management experience 6 months - 1 year
· Current Nationally Accredited Lifeguard Certification (American Red Cross)
· Professional Level CPR/BLS (American Red Cross)
· First Aid (American Red Cross)
· AED
· CPO (Certified Pool Operator) or willing to obtain CPO within 6 months of employment
· Lifeguard/First Aid Instructor Level (American Red Cross) a plus.

Arcadia University - Part Time Assistant Men's and Women's Coach

The person in this part-time position will be involved in many aspects of the sport program, including, but not limited to, practice planning, game preparation/scouting, in-game coaching, recruiting, administrative work, and general supervision of student-athletes.

 

Following the recent addition of esports, track & field, and ice hockey to the Arcadia’s Athletics Department, the University will now sponsor 26 varsity sports (13 women, 12 men, 1 co-ed) beginning in the 2021-22 academic year. Parkland Aquatic Club (PAAC) - Part Time Swim Coach (5/14/20)

PAAC, a USA Swimming level 3 club as well as a Bronze Medal Club, located in Allentown, PA., is looking for an energetic and motivated part-time age group coach for the 2020-2021 competitive year.

Duties & Responsibilities Include:

State College Area YMCA (SCAY) - Full Time Head Swim Team Coach  (4/17/20)

The State College Branch of the YMCA of Centre County is seeking an experienced Head Swim Team Coach for their team of 150+ swimmers!

This is a full-time position with a comprehensive benefits package.  Successful applicants will have at least 5 years of coaching experience that demonstrates successful program development and management, character-driven leadership, excellent communication skills, and a personal commitment to the YMCA core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.  The Head Coach will be responsible for developing and supervising practices for all levels of swimmers; hiring, training, scheduling, and mentoring assistant coaches; and working closely with the parent committee on tasks such as recruiting and managing meet volunteers.  Previous experience with Meet Manager and Team Unify software preferred as is a current lifeguard certification; familiarity with the Y-USA swim lesson curriculum; and USA Swimming and YMCA Swim Coach certifications. Expected start date is Spring 2020.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of aquatic experience as a competitive swimmer or aquatic instructor
  • 2 years of competitive coaching
  • Working knowledge of competitive aquatics in YMCA, USA Swimming

Essential Functions

  • Plan, organize, and develop the swim team program.  Plan, attend, and direct team practices as scheduled.  Schedule practice times within the guidelines set by the Aquatics Director.
  • Ensure the safety of participants at all times.
  • Recruit, hire, develop, and train a group of 6 to 8 assistant coaches.
  • Manage and supervise assistant coaches to meet program and safety objectives, and to build a positive team culture that promotes individual growth and team building.
  • Maintain proper team records and file reports as needed.
  • Attend all YMCA league meetings and team meets.  Coordinate entry information to meet all deadlines. Attend/organize USA Swimming meet participation as needed.
  • Relate to the individual swimmers on a personal basis at practice, at meets, and through goal setting, instruction and positive encouragement.
  • Relate to parents' concerns through individual contact by appointment, phone calls, or emails. Utilize parent board for support and advisory functions. Attend and actively participate in all parent board meetings.
  • Initiate and maintain active communication concerning all aspects of the program with assistant coaches, swimmers, parents and necessary Y staff.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Aquatics Director.

Gettysburg YWCA (GETY) - Part Time Assistant Coach  (4/17/20)


The Gettysburg Sharks Swim Team (GETY) in Gettysburg, PA is looking for a Part-Time Head Coach and Assistant Coaches.

 

Candidates must have or be willing to obtain current American Red Cross CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications.  Must be willing to work weeknights between 5:30pm and 8pm, with availability on weekends.  USA coaching certification is preferred or must be something you are willing to work towards.

Northampton KIDS Swim Club - Part Time Coaching Staff  (4/16/20)

The KIDS Swim Club in Northampton, PA is seeking Assistant Coaches to work with age group athletes.  Our team consists of swimmers age 5-18 with various levels of competitive swim experience and ability.  The Assistant Swimming Coach is responsible for providing swimming instruction to team members in various age groups. All coaches are responsible for the appropriate positive behavior of all swim team members during practices and competitions.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs assigned coaching responsibilities, which may include practices, recruiting, record keeping & scheduling
  • Follows all KIDS Swim Club policies, rules regulations & procedures, including emergency procedures. Completes incident & accident reports as necessary.

The Marauder Swim Club (MSC) is a non-profit year-round, USA Swimming competitive swim club. Practices are held at Millersville University.

Westtown Aquatic Club (WA) – Assistant Director of Aquatics  (2/5/20)

This Position is an 11 month, salaried position with medical benefits. Pay is commensurate with experience.

  Position starts in the spring of 2020, or earlier, if candidates are available.

  Westtown Aquatic Club (WA) is looking for an Assistant Director of Aquatics. WA is located on the grounds of Westtown School. A pre-k through 12, Quaker boarding school located in the back roads of West Chester, Pa.  Interested applicants should have prior USA-swimming coaching experience or college level swimming experience.  Hourly rate will be commensurate with experience.

Duties and responsibilities;  

  • Westtown Aquatic Club: Working with the aquatic club (approximately 20-24 hours of coaching during certain times of the year) for practice and meets. Candidates will work with all ages and abilities within the aquatic program but main focus is on the 10 and under (6 days a week).
  • Upper School Head Coach: Working in conjunction with Westtown School athletics. This is a two season position (fall for condition swimming/ winter varsity swimming).
  •   Westtown Swim School Coordinator: Working with the Director of Auxiliary Initiative overseeing curriculum of swim school groups
  •   Additional work available through rental swim lesson groups, dorm parent (if available) and as a summer camp supervisor.  

Qualifications:

  • · 2-4 years working in an age group or college setting.
  • · Previous high school and college swimming experience is mandatory.
  • ·Ability to work afternoons, nights and 1-2 weekends a month.

Philadelphia Country Club - Head Swim Coach Coach  (1/14/20)


The Philadelphia Country Club is a private club located just outside of Philadelphia in Gladwyne, Pennsylvania. We are a premier, full service, family oriented, private country club dedicated to the enjoyment of our Members, their families and guests. We offer many amenities including a fitness center, golf, squash, tennis, paddle tennis, pickleball, shooting, bowling, dining and events.

Our pool is the focal point of the Club in the summer months. Summer 2019 we completed our full renovation of the Pool and deck area to include new resort-style features. Jersey Storm Swimming (STRM) - Assistant Coach  (11/22/19)


The Assistant Coach position is a part-time position that requires 3-4 days/week commitment (~1-2hrs/day coaching) plus a weekend meet approximately once per month. Some additional off-deck time required to fulfill coaching duties and responsibilities (e.g., practice planning, meet entries, etc). The position offers an hourly salary, sick pay, and reimbursement for board approved travel and certification/educational fees required for the position.

  • Provide input to head coach to develop and implement year-round and seasonal training plans for your training group

  • Teach life skills such as self-discipline, self-confidence, good sportsmanship, goal setting, and working to achieve goals
  • Assign meet events/entries to swimmers and ensure swimmers are entered in meets
  • Coach training group/team at meets (~1 meet/month)
  • Create an educational, safe, & inviting experience for all swimmers
  • Initiate, develop & maintain positive relationships with ALL swimmers in training group

Education/Experience:

  • High School graduate with Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Prior swim coaching experience and a competitive swimming background
  • Knowledge of proper swimming technique, training science, and stroke/distance specific racing background. 
  • Detail oriented with excellent communication and organization skills
  • Experience using Team Unify (preferred)

Licenses/Certifications/Registrations:

  • Certified coaching member of USA Swimming
  • ASCA Level 1/2 certification or higher (preferred)
