Qualifications:

Essential Duties:

  • Must be available Monday through Friday from 3:00pm - 6:30pm during the season; some weekends
  • Will oversee the bi-annual trip to Florida over Christmas Break
  • Works with the Associate Director of Athletics on scheduling, officials, transportation and equipment needs
  • Works with college-bound swimmers and helping them achieve their goals beyond Malvern Prep

The Glenhardie Golf & Country Club Head Swim coach.

Job Description:

Head Coach for the 2021 summer season.

We are looking for a high-energy, motivated individual to lead approximately 100 swimmers of all ability levels in our developmental and competitive summer swim league, as well as coordinate and manage our assistant and volunteer coaches. The ideal candidate has head coaching experience, strong leadership and communication skills, the ability to connect with children from grades K-12, and an infectious enthusiasm for the sport of swimming. The candidate will work closely with the swim team parent representatives to carry out the many day-to-day responsibilities of the coaching staff.

 

The responsibilities of the job include:

  • Promote a fun, safe, and team-oriented environment
  • Be a role model for the swimmers, especially in the older age groups
  • Identify age- and skill-appropriate drills for each age group to include stroke, starts, turns, etc…
  • Plan and run practices for each age group
  • Maintain control and safety of swimmers
  • Provide stroke technique instruction to beginning, intermediate, and advanced swimmers
  • Coordinate logistics for each swim meet for swimmers and parents.
  • Generate meet lineups and day before meet.
  • Review meet results (including disqualification issues) and work with swimmers to improve performance
  • Maintain organization of swimmers prior to and during swim meets
  • Work with the Team Parents to organize and attend themed pep rallies, as well as other various team-sponsored social activities
  • Help with setup and breakdown of all practices and swim meets
  • Assist in the hiring of assistant and volunteer coaching staff (as needed), and managing staff throughout the season
  • Attend all League Coaches Meetings
  • Conduct pre-season evaluations
  • Plan and implements a seasonal awards recognition program

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience as a head coach, or extensive experience as an Assistant Coach
  • Valid CPR/AED, First-Aid certification, lifeguard certifications.
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Effective communications skills (for children and parents)

Position Purpose:

The Senior Team Leader position is a high-profile leadership position that is responsible for helping the Branch Executive Leader with the overall direction, coordination, operation, and success of the Branch.  The Senior Team Leader will ensure the Branch meets or exceeds financial goals, while providing remarkable leadership in areas of member experience, team member experience, new membership growth, in-Branch business performance, and member participation.  The Senior Team Leader will provide daily support to a team of 50+ team members and offer ongoing leadership, motivation, and development.  They are responsible for casting, coaching, communication, alignment, and holding Department Leaders accountable (both direct and non-direct reports) to collective Greater Philadelphia YMCA expectations.   The Senior Team Leader will also act as the Branch ambassador to provide each member a great experience.

Under extraordinary circumstances, all leaders will be asked to flex into areas they might not normally work in as well as contribute a greater degree of direct service in addition to their typical leadership responsibilities. These circumstances vary but may include but not be limited to those that result in the need for reduced hours while the amount of service being provided may remain the same.

What You Will Do:

· Provide leadership in the delivery of quality within the YMCA aquatic department.

· Ensure that all instructors are trained and provide programs that meet member needs and YMCA standards.

· Responsible for overall implementation of the Swim Team.

· Monitor all aquatic programs and staff for safety, quality and member service.

· Develop relationships with members and obtain regular feedback on programs.

· Provide program enhancements to ensure that member needs are being met in line with Association guidelines.

· Supervise staff and ensure appropriate staffing of pool and programs.

· Responsible for staff in-service training, feedback, and staff audits to ensure program quality.

· Ensure safety and cleanliness in the pool area, locker rooms and adjoining locations.

· Complete weekly maintenance checklist. Complete pool logs on a regular basis.

· Ensure that pool staffing is within YMCA standards before leaving the area or performing maintenance items.

· Conduct lifeguard and safety audits daily.

· Perform pool maintenance duties in accordance with OSHA Hazardous Materials Precautions. Hose down the pool deck, put away all equipment. Perform water quality testing. Perform regular surveys of pool and filter room.

· Implement the Aquatic Budget.

· Serve as a member of the management team and Leader on Duty for the facility.

· Actively campaign for the Annual Campaign and work to develop donors and volunteers. Provide leadership to the Aquatics Quality Team.

· Provide excellent service to members and participants. Communicate all pool rules and ensure that you are accessible and identifiable.

What You Need to Succeed:

· Bachelor’s degree in related field

· 3-5 years of experience with current ARC Lifeguard/Water Park, CPR for Professional Rescuer, First Aid, Administering Emergency Oxygen and YMCA Swim Lesson Instructor certification with 2 years of related experience.

· 5+ years of experience in fitness, retail, recreation management or hospitality industries

· 5+ years of experience managing 50+ team members

· 5+ years of experience managing Profit and Loss (P&L) statements/revenue/EBITDA budgets

· Experience providing high-end member service and managing member concerns

· Pursue CPO and applicable certifications related to your location within 6 months.

· Ability to use water chemistry test kit.

· The coach is responsible for setting up home meets and work with the parents committee in securing volunteers to run the swim meets.

· Provide excellent service to members and participants. Communicate all YMCA rules and ensure that you are accessible and identifiable.

· Assist the Aquatic Director as needed to ensure that the facilities meet and exceed Association Safety Standards.

· Lead by example at all times. Interact with a high level of professionalism and accountability.

· Serve as a member of the management team.

· Know any computer software that is used for the running of meets and swimmer line ups.

· Current Swim Lesson Instructor Trainer or ARC Lifeguard/First Aid, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer instructor certification.

Emmaus Aquatic Club:  

The Emmaus Aquatic Club (EMAC) is the steward of the sport of swimming in the East Penn School District and surrounding areas.  EMAC consists of 3 divisions - swim lessons, competitive swimming, and pool management.

Pool Management Division:  

Recreational swimming and competitive swimming opportunities are dependent upon each other.  Our Pool Management Division enables EMAC to facilitate recreational swimming in the area.

Pool Management Director:

Oversee and manage the Pool Management Division of the Emmaus Aquatic Club.

Job Duties:

  1. Manage contracts for current clients.

Suburban Seahawks Club – Part time Coach. Two open positions for late August 2020.

Suburban Seahawks Club (SSC) is a non-profit, 250+ member, competitive aquatics, USA Swimming Silver Medal Club. SSC’s primary location is a club owned, 25 yard 8-lane pool with a 2 lane teaching pool and dry-land room.

SSC is seeking qualified applicants for an age group coach position, primarily working with swimmers ages 8-14, but should be able to coach all age groups. The interested applicant should have prior experience and be willing to coach under the direction and philosophy of SSC Head Coach Charlie Kennedy. The applicant must be willing to work evenings (practices are held during the 3:30-9:00 pm time frame), and work weekend USA swimming meets approximately 1 weekend per month. The candidate must have (or be willing to obtain) USA Swimming Coaches Certification (which includes Safety Training for Swim Coaches, CPR, First Aid), and up to date background checks (per USA Swimming guidelines).

Suburban Seahawks Club - Aquatics Manager/Head Lifeguard

SSC is located in Newtown Square, PA and is looking for a reliable individual to join the aquatics team as a full time employee. This person will work under designated SSC Supervisors, Board of Directors & with all members of the SSC aquatics team.

The Aquatics Manager is responsible for maintaining a safe environment for members, communicating with patrons & other employees, overseeing the aquatics area, providing work direction to staff, and performing life guarding duties themselves.

In addition to the above the person will be accountable for:
· Acting as a lead contact for all lifeguard staff, ensure all shifts are covered & follow all SSC communication protocols.

State College Area YMCA (SCAY) - Full Time Head Swim Team Coach  (4/17/20)

The State College Branch of the YMCA of Centre County is seeking an experienced Head Swim Team Coach for their team of 150+ swimmers!

This is a full-time position with a comprehensive benefits package.  Successful applicants will have at least 5 years of coaching experience that demonstrates successful program development and management, character-driven leadership, excellent communication skills, and a personal commitment to the YMCA core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.  The Head Coach will be responsible for developing and supervising practices for all levels of swimmers; hiring, training, scheduling, and mentoring assistant coaches; and working closely with the parent committee on tasks such as recruiting and managing meet volunteers.  Previous experience with Meet Manager and Team Unify software preferred as is a current lifeguard certification; familiarity with the Y-USA swim lesson curriculum; and USA Swimming and YMCA Swim Coach certifications. The Gettysburg Sharks Swim Team (GETY) in Gettysburg, PA is looking for a Part-Time Head Coach and Assistant Coaches.

Westtown Aquatic Club (WA) – Assistant Director of Aquatics  (2/5/20)

This Position is an 11 month, salaried position with medical benefits. Pay is commensurate with experience.

  Westtown Aquatic Club (WA) is looking for an Assistant Director of Aquatics. WA is located on the grounds of Westtown School. A pre-k through 12, Quaker boarding school located in the back roads of West Chester, Pa.  Interested applicants should have prior USA-swimming coaching experience or college level swimming experience.  Hourly rate will be commensurate with experience.

Duties and responsibilities;  

  • Westtown Aquatic Club: Working with the aquatic club (approximately 20-24 hours of coaching during certain times of the year) for practice and meets. Candidates will work with all ages and abilities within the aquatic program but main focus is on the 10 and under (6 days a week).
  • Upper School Head Coach: Working in conjunction with Westtown School athletics. This is a two season position (fall for condition swimming/ winter varsity swimming).
  •   Westtown Swim School Coordinator: Working with the Director of Auxiliary Initiative overseeing curriculum of swim school groups
  •   Additional work available through rental swim lesson groups, dorm parent (if available) and as a summer camp supervisor.  

Qualifications:

  • · 2-4 years working in an age group or college setting.
  • · Previous high school and college swimming experience is mandatory.
  • ·Ability to work afternoons, nights and 1-2 weekends a month.
