 Head Age Swim Coach Opening

Town Wreckers Swim Team, TWST, is a competitive swim program in Orchard Park, NY with age specific training for all of our athletes geared towards challenging each individual and developing each individual to the best of THEIR abilities.

We are looking for a dynamic youth leader with a passion and knowledge for competitive swimming.

Job Duties - Lead Age Group Coach

The part time coach will:

  • Create and conduct workouts for a training plan and practice for age group and developmental level athletes
  • Attend all assigned swim meets (approximately 1-2 weekends per month)
  • Attend coaches’ meetings and be able to work with a large diverse coaching staff
  • Establish and maintain communications with athletes, parents and the facilities
  • Design and implement a seasonal training plan for age group practice groups.
  • Work closely with the Club Head Coach to create coaching and practice schedules for the age group program.
  • Responsible for coaching up to 3 practice groups, both in the water and dry land
  • Help athletes to develop and achieve their highest personal and athletic potentials
  • Motivate training groups with goals, rewards, fun and team spirit activities
  • Perform other duties as needed or assigned by the Club Head Coach
  • Assist in team administration duties as directed by the Club Head Coach

Requirements

Applicants must have a competitive swimming background, possess (or be willing and able to obtain) current certifications in Lifeguarding (included First Aid and CPR/AED), Safety Training for Swim Coaches, and be able to pass a preemployment background check. Additional training through USA Swimming will be necessary.

The ideal candidate has:

  • At least 2 years of experience as a age group coach of a competitive swim team
  • Up-to-date understanding of latest coaching techniques through research and continuing education through USA Swimming, ASCA, or ISCA
  • Ability and desire to work with parents as part of swimmer development
  • ASCA level 2 or higher preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Personal experience in year round competitive swimming
  • Successful track record of swimmer retention and recruitment
  • Experience with Team Unify and Hy-Tek preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as demonstrated ability to foster teamwork

Head Coach - PMSC

Pal-Mac Swim Club is a competitive swim club located in Palmyra NY. We offer a year-round USA Swimming program for competitive age group (5-18 years old) swimmers and are seeking a Head Coach to work alongside the Board of Directors, Aquatics director, and other Assistant Coaches to enhance the team. The team practices in local school facilities five - six days per week.

This position will work with our age group levels reinforcing the technical aspects of swimming. The Head Coach position requires a motivated, enthusiastic coach with experience and knowledge in competitive swimming. Candidates should exhibit the necessary professionalism and maturity to communicate with swimmers of all abilities, their parents, and the club's assistant coaches. Candidates will be contracted by PMSC and will work with the Board of Directors to promote the overall success of the club. Compensation will depend on experience and qualifications.

Qualifications:

  • USA Swimming Coach Certification in good standing (or willingness to achieve)
  • Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED
  • Strong background in competitive swimming
  • Completion of high school
  • Working knowledge of basic USA Swimming rules and regulations

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage swim practices and attend swim meets in a coordinated effort with Assistant Coach(es).
  • Work with Assistant Coaches to implement age-appropriate swim programs for all swimmers, including personal goal setting. Inspire and challenge each swimmer to achieve his or her goals and develop positive self-esteem.
  • Display professional behavior at all times when representing PMSC

ROCHESTER RAPIDS SWIM TEAM, Rochester NY

HEAD COACH WANTED (This is a part-time position, year round, evenings & some weekends)

The Rochester Rapids are a family friendly, competitive swim club with a mission to increase diversity in the sport of swimming while developing the character and talent of our swimmers.  Based at the Adams Street Recreation Center in the Corn Hill Neighborhood of Rochester, the Rapids have been a competitive club for over 40 years.  The Board of Directors (parent volunteers) run the club in conjunction with the Recreation Bureau of the City of Rochester. Children ages 6 to 18 swim under the guidance of our Head Coach and assistant coaches, and compete in local USA and GVSL swim meets. 

The team is searching for a coach who has a vision of how to bring together competitive swimmers in an educational, supportive, and fun environment.  The Head Coach will have the full support of parents while pursuing the mission developed for the team.     

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED, Safety Training for Swim Coaches, Background check, Concussion Training, Knowledge of USA Swimming Rules and Regulations
  • USA Swimming Coaching Membership in good standing (or willing to join)
  • Abides by applicable USA Swimming Codes of Conduct and Safe Sport Requirements
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the rules, regulations, strategies, and techniques of swimming, including dryland training
  • Demonstrates ability to establish and maintain working relationships with athletes, parents, coaches, and officials
  • Demonstrates excellence in interpersonal skills to effectively mentor and instruct athletes.
  • Strong communication skills, written and verbal

Assistant Coach

Marlins Swimming is a competitive swim club located on the west side of Rochester, NY. We offer a year-round USA Swimming program for competitive age group (5-18 years old) swimmers and are seeking an Assistant Coach to work alongside the Program Director/Head Coach and other Assistant Coaches to enhance the team.  If you love working with children, have knowledge about swimming, and have a high energy level and positive attitude, we'd like to hear from you!  The Marlins practice up to 6 days a week and participate in local and regional meets throughout the short course and long course seasons.  We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated individuals with the ability to communicate with and motivate swimmers of all ages and abilities.

Sea Dragons Swim Club – Assistant Coach Position

Penfield, NY - Sea Dragons Swim Club is a non-profit, USA Swimming Club for competitive swimmers age 5 – 19, part of the Niagara LSC (Local Swimming Committee).  We are seeking an experienced, organized, and positive assistant Coach to help bring our club to the next level. This position is year-round. You will be working with the Head Coach and coaching staff to develop a program that will increase athlete swimming success. You must possess a high degree of emotional maturity and be able to motivate children with varied attributes. You must have a strong desire to create a positive training environment for all swimmers to achieve success in the pool and life and be willing to grow to make this your ultimate goal.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Inspiring, dedicated coach and swimming subject matter expert
    • Ability to demonstrate mature judgment, reliability, availability, and ethical behavior including punctuality, confidentiality, positive and constructive feedback, and ability to function in a multi-task environment
    • Ability to meet all USA Swimming certification and coaching requirements (CPR, Safety Training for Swim Coaches, USA Swimming Background Check, Athlete Protection, Lifeguard, First Aid, Concussion, etc.)
    • Approximately 20 hours per week, depending on practice/meet schedules and administrative needs
    • Attend 2-3 swim meets per month (during season)
  • Swimmer development
    • Emphasize proper stroke technique and understand athlete progression
    • Plan, prepare, and conduct team practices based on pre-developed annual training plan
    • Positively and constructively communicate and motivate children with the ability to consider varied social, emotional, and physical attributes
    • Manage, observe, and constructively evaluate swimmer performance at practices and meets to enhance technique and motivation
    • Work directly in and out of the water instructing swimmers

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

  • College Degree
  • 2+ years competitive swim coaching experience and coaching membership that is in good standing with USA Swimming
  • Energetic, patient, constructive, and ability to provide simple instructions
  • Demonstrated ability to work well and communicate effectively with swimmers of all ages/abilities, staff, and administrators
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
  • Enthusiasm for continuing coaching education

PART-TIME SALARIED ASSISTANT COACH POSITION

REPORTS TO: Head Coach

SALARY: Annually, $18,000+ depending on experience.  Bonus Structure available.  Reimbursement of required certifications and courses.

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent

Experience: 1-2+ years of competitive swim experience

JOB GOAL: To align with the policy and procedures set forth by the Buffalo City Swim Racers and to assist the Head Coach in developing age group athletes to make a commitment to the pursuit of excellence, through the process of striving to be the best that they can be, to acquire life enhancing attributes such as integrity, discipline, teamwork and sportsmanship.

  • Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED, Safety Training for Swim Coaches, APT, Background check, Concussion Training, USADA Coach’s Advantage, Foundations of Coaching 101 and 201 and in good standing with USA Swimming

  • Assist with City Swim Project/ Buffalo Tide Staff in facilitating Events (City Swim Project/Buffalo Tide hosted or community events)
  • Commit to continued coaching education
  • Bridging the City Swim Project Learn-to-Swim program to the Buffalo Tide Competitive Team
  • Working with the Green, Black and Bronze levels of the Buffalo Tide Competitive Team.
  • Ability to work with swimmers of all ages and abilities

On Job Time Requirements:

  • Attend all assigned staff meetings
  • Attend the assigned meets for the practice group
  • Assistance in entries for the assigned practice group are complete and ensuring correctness prior to deadlines
  • Arrival at practice and meets at minimum 15 min prior to arrival of athletes
  • Will require early evening and weekend hours

Communication:

  • Communicate all actions regularly between Head Coach, Executive Director
  • Excellent email communication to parents with timely response (within 24 hours)
  • Continually assess goals with athletes and communicate to parents in a patient and respectable manner

Professionalism:

  • Model proper dress, language, demeanor and sportsmanship for the athletes
  • Create an educational, safe and inviting experience for all participants.
