Age Group Swim Coach

Town Wreckers Swim Team, or TWST Swimming, is a competitive swim program based in Orchard Park and West Seneca high school pools.  We are looking for an enthusiastic and knowledgeable age group swim coach to join our growing program.   The coach will be responsible for developing and implementing swim practices for various levels of swimming, from post-learn-to-swim to high school and national competitors.  The selected individual will also be involved in coaching at competitions as well as non-pool functions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provides a positive, encouraging, and encouraging environment for swimmers of all skills and ages.
  • Proactively creates and leads practice sessions that are aligned with club philosophy and training plan.
  • Works closely with the head coach on training direction and swimmer progression.
  • Attends swim practices and meets, including weekend travel to away meets
  • Participates in special activities to include team social events, banquets, award nights, and team meetings.
  • Assistance with fundraisers and other “dryland” activities.
  • Attends team staff meetings and training.

Experience:

  • 1-3 years of experience in coaching competitive swimming in a learn-to-swim, age group, summer league, or scholastic environments.
  • Excellent communication skills with a successful track record in working youth athletes.
  • Swim Team Coaches must complete Red Cross Safety for Swim Coaches within the first 30 days of employment.

Targeted weekly hourly will range from 10-15/hours depending on competitions between 5-9 pm on weekdays and Saturday mornings during the school year and morning to midafternoon during the summer during the week.

PART-TIME SALARIED ASSISTANT COACH POSITION

REPORTS TO: Head Coach

SALARY: Annually, $18,000+ depending on experience.  Bonus Structure available.  Reimbursement of required certifications and courses.

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent

Experience: 1-2+ years of competitive swim experience

JOB GOAL: To align with the policy and procedures set forth by the Buffalo City Swim Racers and to assist the Head Coach in developing age group athletes to make a commitment to the pursuit of excellence, through the process of striving to be the best that they can be, to acquire life enhancing attributes such as integrity, discipline, teamwork and sportsmanship.

Qualifications:

  • Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED, Safety Training for Swim Coaches, APT, Background check, Concussion Training, USADA Coach’s Advantage, Foundations of Coaching 101 and 201 and in good standing with USA Swimming
  • Abides by applicable USA Swimming Codes of Conduct and Safe Sport Requirements

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Comprehension of Team Unify and/or Team Manager
  • Experience with social media outlets: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc.
  • Experience with diverse communities

Performance Responsibilities:

  • Embrace and advocate the City Swim Project/Buffalo Tide Culture
  • Passion for coaching and working with all age groups
  • Comprehension of stroke development and technique fundamentals
  • Basic understanding of dryland training for developmental athletes
  • Plan, prepare, and conduct group practices in accordance with our curriculum for the City Swim Project/Buffalo Tide.
  • Keep records and reports as directed by the Executive Director and Head Coach
  • Assist with set up & tear down of all City Swim Project/ Buffalo Tide practices.
  • Assist with City Swim Project/ Buffalo Tide Staff in facilitating Events (City Swim Project/Buffalo Tide hosted or community events)
  • Commit to continued coaching education
  • Bridging the City Swim Project Learn-to-Swim program to the Buffalo Tide Competitive Team
  • Working with the Green, Black and Bronze levels of the Buffalo Tide Competitive Team.
  • Ability to work with swimmers of all ages and abilities

On Job Time Requirements:

  • Attend all assigned staff meetings
  • Attend the assigned meets for the practice group
  • Assistance in entries for the assigned practice group are complete and ensuring correctness prior to deadlines
  • Arrival at practice and meets at minimum 15 min prior to arrival of athletes
  • Will require early evening and weekend hours

Communication:

  • Communicate all actions regularly between Head Coach, Executive Director
  • Excellent email communication to parents with timely response (within 24 hours)
  • Continually assess goals with athletes and communicate to parents in a patient and respectable manner

Professionalism:

  • Model proper dress, language, demeanor and sportsmanship for the athletes
  • Create an educational, safe and inviting experience for all participants.

Position: Assistant Head Coach

Club: Velocity Aquatics Swim Club (VELO)

Location: Williamsville, New York 

Hours Per Week: 15-20

Velocity Aquatics Swim Club is owned by Velocity Aquatics LLC and is year-round competitive swim program. Comprising of 90 to 100 swimmers with plenty of growth opportunity, the team ranges in age and ability from Novice through senior age group. VELO competes year-round in the USA Swimming sanctioned meets within upstate New York.

Team Philosophy:  We teach, train, and motivate youth to develop leadership skills and good sportsmanship through swimming.  We accomplish this by developing our athletes to be good leaders, students, citizens, and team players.  We believe in maintaining a strong work ethic, treating athletic participation as a privilege, doing the right thing and giving back.

Job Qualifications

Education:  High School diploma or GED.

Member in good standing with USA Swimming

Experience:  

  • One to three years of coaching experience at the club or collegiate level.
  • Competitive swimming experience at the club or collegiate level.

Skills:

  • Currently possess or be able to meet ALL USA Swimming certification and coaching requirements (CPR, Safety Training for Swim Coaches, USA Swimming Background Check, Athlete Protection, Lifeguard, First Aid, Concussion, etc.).
  • Demonstrated enthusiasm and highly motivated team player.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the rules, regulations, strategies, and techniques of swimming.  
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain working relationships with athletes, parents, coaches, and officials.
  • Demonstrated excellence in interpersonal skills in order to effectively mentor and instruct athletes.  
  • Demonstrated excellence in written and oral communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of Team Unify, working knowledge of Hy-Tek software is a positive.

Certifications:

Required:  Active coach member of USA Swimming.

Compensation:  Pay is commensurate upon experience.  Bonus structure available based on team performance.  The club will reimburse any fees needed for certification, professional growth, and travel expenses for meet attendance.

Sweet Home AQuatics (SHAQ) is a USA Swimming club geared towards training, developing and challenging each individual athlete to reach their full potential.  We are a small club that functions as one team family.

We currently have immediate opportunities for the following positions:

Head Coach/Lead Senior Coach (Part Time)

Responsibilities:

  • Develop training program for 13–19-year-old swimmers.
  • Lead up to 6 practices for this group per week.
  • Work with other coaches to develop and maintain the competitive swim program for the entire team.
  • Act as liaison to the organization’s Board of Directors.
  • Attend meets as needed.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Previous coaching experience at the College, Club or High School level.

Sea Dragons Swim Club – Assistant Coach Position

Penfield, NY - Sea Dragons Swim Club is a non-profit, USA Swimming Club for competitive swimmers age 5 – 19, part of the Niagara LSC (Local Swimming Committee).  We are seeking an experienced, organized, and positive assistant Coach to help bring our club to the next level. This position is year-round. You will be working with the Head Coach and coaching staff to develop a program that will increase athlete swimming success. You must possess a high degree of emotional maturity and be able to motivate children with varied attributes. You must have a strong desire to create a positive training environment for all swimmers to achieve success in the pool and life and be willing to grow to make this your ultimate goal.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Inspiring, dedicated coach and swimming subject matter expert
    • Ability to demonstrate mature judgment, reliability, availability, and ethical behavior including punctuality, confidentiality, positive and constructive feedback, and ability to function in a multi-task environment
    • Ability to meet all USA Swimming certification and coaching requirements (CPR, Safety Training for Swim Coaches, USA Swimming Background Check, Athlete Protection, Lifeguard, First Aid, Concussion, etc.)
    • Approximately 20 hours per week, depending on practice/meet schedules and administrative needs
    • Attend 2-3 swim meets per month (during season)
  • Swimmer development
    • Emphasize proper stroke technique and understand athlete progression
    • Plan, prepare, and conduct team practices based on pre-developed annual training plan
    • Positively and constructively communicate and motivate children with the ability to consider varied social, emotional, and physical attributes
    • Manage, observe, and constructively evaluate swimmer performance at practices and meets to enhance technique and motivation
    • Work directly in and out of the water instructing swimmers

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

  • College Degree
  • 2+ years competitive swim coaching experience and coaching membership that is in good standing with USA Swimming
  • Energetic, patient, constructive, and ability to provide simple instructions
  • Demonstrated ability to work well and communicate effectively with swimmers of all ages/abilities, staff, and administrators
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
  • Enthusiasm for continuing coaching education

The Clarence Swim Club, a member of USA Swimming, located in Clarence NY is seeking part time assistant coaches. Coaches must have or be able to acquire CPR, First Aid and Lifeguard training.

Applicants will have to pass a USA Swimming background check as well as pass an athlete protection course. 

Experience is preferred but not necessary.
