NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT -- ELITE SENIOR PERFORMANCE PROGRAM

"Work Works"

Sometimes affectionately known as "AP Swim", the FAST National Development program is comprised of an elite roster limited to 20 swimmers.  These highly self-motivated swimmers who prioritize swimming over other non-academic activities are college-bound student-athletes focused on achieving excellence while balancing school goals and pool goals.  Towards this end they and their families also display a willingness to travel in the pursuit of excellence and growth experiences.

"Attendance x Effort = Success"

  • "A" Standard of Attendance
    • Minimum expectation determined by age in order to facilitate progress as the athlete ages
    • 1/2 of swimmer's age = Number of practices expected (up to 10)
    • Attendance evaluated every 10 weeks
      • Ex. 14 year-old agrees to attend 7 practices per week; 10-week total is 70 (90% participation is 63 practices)
    • Repeated failure to meet 90% of attendance expectation will result in reassignment to the Senior Development group

    • Training determined by test sets multiple times per year; results implemented weekly
