BRST Swimmers showed up ready to race at last weekend’s BB Championships. Hosted by Lake Lytal Lightning, the swimmers braved the cold temperatures and achieved 5 new Junior Olympic qualifying times and a bunch of best times!

Leading the way was 10 year old Lauren Meyer. Lauren swam her way to her fifth JO qualifying time in the 100 IM and was the top finisher in the 100 breastroke narrowly missing the JO cut. Cassandra Genz (13) was 1st in the 200 breastroke and 9th in the 100 IM, both swims qualifying her for JO’s. Jack Morrison (10) was 2nd in the 100 freestlye in a new best time and JO cut. Quinn Gehring (12) qualified for  JO’s in the 50 backstroke and was the top finisher in that event.

“We had so many close calls and a ton of best times” said Age Group Coach Katie Dodge. “They didn’t let the cold get to them. I’m so proud of the kids.”

Other noteable performances – Mariana Spada (13) dropped over 20 seconds in the 500 freestyle. Gabriella Genz (17) was 2nd in the 100 IM and achieved a Senior Championship qualifying time.
