USA Swimming

USA Swimming is the national governing body for swimming in the United States.  It was founded in 1980.  USA Swimming is comprised of 60 swimming associations known as LSC’s (Local Swim Committees) throughout the United States.  Our LSC is referred to as the Florida Gold Coast (FGC).  Each swimmer, coach and team is required to pay an annual registration fee to USA Swimming.  A portion of those funds is allocated to help run the Florida Gold Coast.

There are several benefits that come with membership to USA Swimming.  Each swimmer is allowed to swim in any USA Swimming sanctioned meet across the country.  Another great benefit we receive is general liability insurance.  As long as all swimmers in the pool and coaches on the deck are good standing members of USA Swimming, we receive this insurance benefit.

As a USA registered athlete, swimmers will be given a unique identification number, which will follow them throughout their career.  Any time a swimmer registered with USA Swimming competes, their times are recorded in the SWIMS database.  To learn more about USA Swimming please go to their website  I encourage everyone to create a free DECK PASS account on USA Swimming which will allow you to see your child’s times, set goals, see rankings and earn digital incentives.
