SOFLO Sharks Win the 2023 FGC Senior Championships!
Good Afternoon Shark Families,
This past weekend, our 15 & Over Swimmers raced against swimmers from 33 teams at the Annual Florida Gold Coast Spring Short Course Senior (15 & older) Swimming Championships!
The South Florida Aquatic Club rose to the occasion on the fourth and final day at Academic Village Pool.
We swept the combined men's and women’s team titles and captured our ninth combined team title in the team’s history.
Already leading the combined and women’s categories after three days, the men’s team overtook early leader Azura Florida Aquatics on the final day to make it a clean sweep.
SOFLO, with talent and depth, won the combined with 1,981 points. Azura was second with 1,033. They were the only teams to crack the 1,000-point barrier.
SOFLO women won with 1,101, the only team to break 1,000 points. FAST was runner-up with 721.
After winning the previous weekend’s FGC Age Group Championships (for the 11th time), the South Florida Aquatic Club has extended our dominance in the Florida Gold Coast!
The swimmers from our site performed very well, achieving 42% personal best times.
Olivia Dinehart led the way for the SoFlo-AKS site, winning four individual events and the women’s high point award for the meet!

- 200 Breast, 2:13.94
- 100 IM, 56.52
Maddie Smutny won 2 events with a come from behind victories:
- 200 Free, 1:49.92
- 200 Butterfly, 2:02.85
Elena Dinehart and Maddie Smutny also placed in the top 10 women’s high point awards!

- Izzy Wilson: 15-16 girls 1650 Free, 16:58.71
- Olivia Dinehart: 17-18 girls 100 Breast, 1:01.87
- Olivia Dinehart: 17-18 girls 200 Breast, 2:13.94
