2019 FHSAA 2A Swimming and Diving State Championships

November 8^th*** Sailfish Splash Waterpark

Both the Boys and the Girls Pine Crests Teams won their respective Swimming and Diving FHSAA 2A State Championship Team titles competing for the first time in the 2A classification. The Pine Crest Girls  Team scored 448 points ahead of runner up Estero HS -200 points. The Pine Crest Boys team scored 296 points ahead of runner up Montverde Academy-187.5.

GIRLS TEAM

Each member of Girls Dive Team made it through the prelims   

and semis cuts into the finals, thus scoring team points:

- Kaylee Greenberg, SO - Silver Medalist

- Shiraz Shiff, SR - 6^th

- Ava Andersen FR -10^th

The Pine Crest girls team earned 37 dive team points,

10 points more than the runner-up dive team,

Astronaut High School that also had three finalists.

BOYS TEAM

All four male divers qualified for States and made it to finals.

- Kevin Mendez, SO - Gold Medalist

- Denny Gulia-Janovski, SO - Bronze Medalist

- Allen Levitis-7^th grade – 9^th

- Danyal Ghadiali-8^th grade -  15^th 

Pine Crest male divers earned 47 team points, 30 more points than the runner-up dive team, Lincoln Park Academy.

DIVING ALL-AMERICAN QUALIFIERS

Dive lists scoring over 370 points meet the NISCA Diving All American submission standard.  Kaylee Greenberg, Ava Anderson, Allen Levitis, Denny Gulia-Janovski and Kevin Mendez met the criteria.

KEVIN MENDEZ –MOST REPEAT INDIVIDUAL TITLES

Kevin Mendez won his 4^th FHSAA State Championship 1-meter diving title at the 2019 2A State Swimming and Diving Championships. The FHSAA record book documents that only two other male divers have won four FHSAA 1m diving state championship titles:

- Bryan Gillooly, Gateway (Kissimmee) 1990 (3A), 1991 (3A), 1992 (3A) and 1993 (4A)

- Mark Ruiz, Dr. Phillips (Orlando) 1994 (6A), 1995 (6A), 1996 (6A), 1997 (6A)
