PT Lesson Instructor

Hurricane Aquatics (CANES) is a year round swim program that is growing steadily. Comprised of 5 different swimming programs, HA has swim lessons starting at 3 YO through adults, and ranges in ability from novice through a competitive swim team and a masters/triathlon group. Instructors are needed for the most basic water safety lessons upto and including our Stroke School program. We are located in Coral Gables, FL and train at the University of Miami.

Position/Compensation:

  • Reports to the Lesson Coordinator

  • 6-35 hours per week depending on availability

  • Lessons are in the afternoon/evening during the week and Saturday morning from January through June and then 9-1 and 4:30-7 daily in the summer.

  • Previous swimming and / or a background in education is preferred

  • Rate of pay is $11-14/hour based on experience and qualifications

Certifications current or able to acquire upon hiring:

  • WSI, CPR. First Aid (preferred)

  • Concussion Training (required - provided at staff training)

Duties:

  • Teach private and semi/private swim lessons a minimum of 2 days per week

  • Teach group swim classes if hired for this role

  • Working knowledge/application of stroke technique and swimmer development

  • Office tasks related to swimmer tracking and lesson plans

  • Communication with parents

Summer Camp Counselor/ Counselor In Training

Hurricane Aquatics (CANES) is a year round swim program that is comprised of 5 different swimming programs, including a summer swim camp. HA has a summer swim camp for swimmers who can swim a minimum of 12.5 yards and who want to spend the summer in and around the pool. The staff will work together to teach and refine freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke, while integrating games and play. Campers range in age from 7-12 YO. Camp runs from June 5th through August 4th, and operates during the week from 8:00-4:00. We are located in Coral Gables, FL and train at the University of Miami.

Position/Compensation:

  • Reports to the Camp Director

  • 36-40 hours per week

  • Camp runs from June 5th through August 4th. And operates during the week from 8:00-4:00

  • Previous swimming experience, a background in education or child care experience is preferred

  • Rate of pay is $10.25+/hour based on experience and qualifications

Certifications current or able to acquire upon hiring:

  • CPR. First Aid (preferred)

  • Concussion Training (required - provided as staff training)

Duties:

  • Assist lead instructor with swim lessons

  • Working knowledge/application of stroke technique and swimmer development

  • Oversee swimmers while moving from pool to lunch, crafts, etc

  • Work with swimmers on hydration and safety as well as any other out of the pool activities

  • Tasks related to swimmer tracking and lesson progression

  • Communication with parents at drop off/pick up

PT Assistant Age Group Coach

Hurricane Aquatics (CANES) is a year round competitive swim program founded in 2014 that is growing steadily. Comprised of 60+ competitive swimmers and 200+ pre-competitive swimmers. The team ranges in age and ability from novice through post graduate/international competitors and we offer a masters/triathlon group. We are located in Coral Gables, FL and train at the University of Miami.

Position/Compensation:

  • Reports to the Head Coach

  • 20-35 hours per week plus one meet per month

  • Practices are in the afternoon/evening during the week and Saturday morning

  • Previous competitive swimming and / or coaching experience is highly preferred

  • Rate of pay is a bi-weekly hourly that is based on experience and qualifications

Certifications current or able to acquire upon hiring:

  • CPR. First Aid, Safety Training for Swim Coaches, Concussion Training,  and a membership in good standing with USA Swimming.

  • Athlete protection training,  Safe Sport training, a background check through USA Swimming

  • Foundations of Coaching

Duties:

  • Coach a group of 11-15 YO competitive swimmers daily

  • Coach group of advanced pre-competitive swimmers daily

  • Coach Masters workouts  2-3 days per week

  • Working knowledge/application of stroke technique and swimmer development

  • Office tasks related to meet entries, season planning and communication with parents

Preferred start: Summer 2017, no later than August 15, 2017
