HURRICANE AQUATICS FOUNDATION MISSION

The Hurricane Aquatics Foundation is a 501c3 organization that believes that basic water safety and learning to swim is a skill that every person should possess. With an estimated 40K people in Miami who don’t know how to swim, and many not able to afford quality swim lessons, our mission is three-fold:

  • Provide full scholarships for life-saving swimming skills to individuals who can't afford swim lessons regardless of age. Programs range from infant swimming lessons for babies, private swimming lessons for those ages 3 to elderly, and group classes for children ages 5-13.
  • Provide either partial or full scholarships for life-saving swimming skills and fitness swimming programs to cancer patients of all ages and abilities. Swimming can a safe and fun way for patients to stay strong and maintain endurance while undergoing treatment. Or be an enjoyable way to build strength and endurance after treatment, as part of a remission wellness plan.
  • Provide partial scholarships for swim lessons or recreational swim programs to; (active, retired or family of the fallen)- first responders and military. As well as partial scholarships for their immediate family for swim lessons and recreational swimming.

DONATIONS

The Hurricane Aquatics Foundation has a goal of offering scholarships for 2-300 lesson hours in 2019.    A key component of this success will be the HAF reaching its spring fundraising goal of $20K with a Swim-A-Thon.
