Santa Clara Grand Prix- Recap
Jun 16, 2009, 6:45 am
The Santa Clara Grand Prix turned out to be a great experience for NPB swimmers. The final session each night turned out to be very exciting. On Saturday we saw Michael Phelps win the 400 Free by less than .10 of a second and Ryan Lochte come from behind to win the 200 Backstroke. On Sunday, we saw a great race in the 100 Freestyle between Phelps and Hayden, Hayden won by .40 of a second and in the 100 Backstroke Lochte held off Michael Phelps for the win. Watching Phelps swim in person was very impressive. The power and strength that Phelps has in the water is like no other. He has incredible ability to close the gap and finish a race. It was truly a great experience to see him swim live. Our NPB swimmers had a great meet to go along with the experience of watching so many great swimmers. Connor Knight swam to a perfect meet, Alex Ladd had two best times, Nicole Hocking had one best time and Claudio Angelini was within his time for all of his events.
