Bolles Swimming March 23rd Update

Peter Verhoef

Bolles Swimming Families,

At this time we have no further updates on the return to the pool at Bolles and are still operating on an April 15th timeline.  We have suspended billing for the April 1st installment of coaching fees.  All meet fees or non-recurring fees due will be processed on April 1st

Our staff has remained at work over the past week and on Friday we met virtually to follow up on some ideas to stay connected as a program.  As coaches we truly believe the impact of swimming goes beyond the pool.  With most of our program not able to swim regularly during this time, we want to focus our energy on ways to help everyone stay healthy and connected as a team.

We will continue to post workout ideas and updates on our website.  We are also going to work to engage everyone via online group meetings and social media.  We want to be considerate of the amount of time spent “screening” for school and other activities and will work to make our connection points short and impactful.  Look for information coming soon!

We would like to encourage all of our families to take this time as a healthy break from our typical schedule.  Each day the outlook for swimmers looks to be more like a ‘reset’ on our season when we return to the water – which we will make into an awesome opportunity to re-launch into great swimming as soon as possible!  Much of this has to do with the decisions involving the Tokyo 2020 games.  While this may not seem to impact our program directly, the downstream implications of moving the Olympics, then Olympic Trials, the meets leading up to trials, and then the championship meets around that will determine the opportunities availanble to our swimmers when we return to competition.  Please stay engaged as a team – let a coach know if you need more information or a better connection.  Stay active, healthy, and excited for what is to come!

I know we have all been flooded with online lists of things to do and ‘tips for quarantine’, so if you have a moment to watch/read anything extra, here are couple of key articles and videos we feel can only help you as a Bolles Swimming Family:
