The Bolles School Sharks Offers 2 programs for Senior swimmers in 9th to 12th grade:

The Bolles School Senior Group is a year-round competitive program focused on National competition for enrolled Bolles School student-athletes.  Goals range from competing at Florida Senior Champs and FHSAA State Championships up to US Olympic Trials and the Olympics.  Swimmers are expected to meet program standards and maintain challenging goals in the pool and the classroom.

The Bolles Sharks Senior Group ("Late Night") is a year-round competitive program focused on National competition for  student-athletes enrolled in other schools.  Goals range from competing at Florida Senior Champs and FHSAA State Championships (for their respective high school teams) up to US Olympic Trials and the Olympics.  Swimmers are expected to meet program standards and maintain challenging goals in the pool and the classroom.

Both programs offer three training (practice) groups to best organize practices effectively:

(Late Night groups may be combined for the most effective use of space.)

Championship “Champs” Group

National Prep "Prep" Group

National Group

Training for student-athletes to reach a Florida Senior Championship level of performance.

Training for student athletes to reach a Long Course Sectional and/or Futures level of performance.

Training for student-athletes to reach a Junior National and Olympic level of performance.

Qualification

Swimmers may qualify to move groups at the completion of a championship season in December, March, or August.  Results from championship meets will be considered to place swimmers in groups for the next season.  Each standard must be a different event. 50s of Fly, Back, and Breast are not considered for group placement.  International Swimmers will be evaluated based on meet results and coaching discretion.

Time standards (below) are used to define groups for three reasons;

  1. Athletes are organized by the championship meet which they will attend/qualify for.
  2. Standards keep group sizes in line with what is needed to maintain a ratio for quality coaching.
  3. Athletes are given the opportunity to progress through the senior division groups as they get older and faster to provide appropriate and increasing stimulus.

Note: 9th grade swimmers are not eligible for the National group regardless of performance level.  The earliest a 9th grade swimmer could join the National Group is following March Championship meets of their freshman year.  All freshmen swimmers should plan to complete their freshman year through August beofre being considered for the National group.

COVID19 Adjustment: This year has left swimmers without competitions to progress forward and forced coaches to restrict group size to specific numbers.  The standards below are adjusted to accomodate swimmers retungin to ful time training.

Dryland and Weight Room Programs

Dryland is considered part of practice and swimmers should plan to attend all sessions.  Dryland sessions are designed to give swimmers the minimum required physical development to be competitive.  Weight lifting is an additional step and committment beyond dryland training, it is not a substitute for dryland programming.

Weightlifting sessions are in addition to swim practices and dryland, they are scheduled separately.  Athletes will only be permitted to weight room sessions with consistent attendance in pool, dryland, and weight room sessions (less than three absences).  Weightlifting sessions are limited to the following groups:

College

With a program from your college coach or with the Bolles team program.

Group Expectations

Expectations for attendance and competition participation are based on the goals of each athlete.  Athletes with goals to compete in college or at a senior championship level and beyond should expect to attend all practices as a minimum.  A great attitude, work ethic, attention to detail, and competitive drive should build on a foundation of consistent attendance.  Competing at a National level will require full engagement in and beyond the team’s schedule.

Standards for EVERY senior athlete include having good posture, being prompt, polite, purposeful, and prepared.  These are expected of swimmers at all ages and levels within the program.
