NTC Aquatics to become South Lake Aquatic Club

Dear Lightning Swim Families,

A short time ago, you received an email from the Orlando Health National Training Center regarding the future of NTC Aquatics.  Effective September 1st, 2020, the NTCA will cease operations as it currently exists.  Our swim team will continue on as its own entity called South Lake Aquatic Club and we will still call the pool at the National Training Center home.

Coach Gibb and Coach Alex have put in many, many hours over the last few weeks to ensure that this transition will be as seamless as possible for our team members and families. We believe this change in structure, from an organization-owned club to a coach-owned one, will be a positive move for all our team members today and on into the future. We have secured a long term agreement so that our team will continue to have daily use of one of the best training facilities in the country, and we will gain many freedoms to better serve our team and the Clermont community.

What swimmers see on a daily basis, including; our practice schedules, meet schedules, coaching staff and group structures, will all progress largely as they would have under OH-NTC ownership. In addition, we have immediate plans to create a non-profit booster club which will allow our team families to better organize, volunteer and fundraise to directly enrich the quality of our swim club.

Registration for the 2020-21 competition year will open on Monday, August 17th through our same Team Unify website and registration system. Squad placements for the 2020-21 competition year will be released later next week.

Coach Gibb and Coach Alex hosted two team Zoom meetings to further explain this reorganization and to answer parent questions. A recording of our parent Zoom meeting is available here.  Zoom recording 08..07.20 (password  %mD1y6A6)

Thank you all for your continued support. We’re excited to see what the future holds for our team!
