Level 1:

Skills Needed:

            · 25 yd Free

            · 25 yd Back

            · Knowledge of Fly

            · Knowledge of Breaststroke kick

Skills Learned:

            · Circle swimming

            · Drop pushes/Streamlines

            · Basic drills

            · Turns

            · Dives/starts

· Refining of the 4 competitive strokes

            · Begins to read the pace clock

            · Lane etiquette

 

Level 2:

Skills Needed:

            · 25s of the 4 competitive strokes

            · Basics of turns for the 4 competitive strokes

            · Safe dives/starts from the side

            · Reads the pace clock and can leave on 5 sec intervals

            · Lane etiquette

Skills Learned:

            · Continued refining of the 4 competitive strokes

            · Correct turns for the 4 strokes

· Intermediate drills

            · Block starts

            · Understanding swim sets   

            · Continues to learn how to read the pace clock

 

Level 3:

Skills Needed:

            · 50s of 4 competitive strokes

            · The 4 competitive turns executed legally

            · Safe block starts

            · Read the pace clock and can leave on 1:00 and 1:30 intervals

Skills Learned:

            · 100 IM and turns

            · Sculling

            · Advanced drills/sets

            · Reading the workout board

 

Pre-Performance:

Skills Needed:

            · 100 IM and turns executed legally

            · Sculling

            · Can read the workout board

Skills Learned:

            · Drill progressions for all 4 competitive strokes

            · Swim interval sets

            · Attend 3 sanctioned meets/season, Aug-March (SC) and April-July (LC)

            · Preparation to move to Performance

 

Performance:

Skills Needed:

            · One “BB” time

            · Regular attendance of practice and sanctioned meets.

            · 10x100 Free on 1:30

            · Swim Legal 400 IM or AAA cut in any event

 

Competition:

Skills Needed:

            · Must be 14 or older

            · 90% attendance of sanctioned meets

            · 85% practice attendance, to include doubles and Saturdays

            · 10x100 Free on 1:20

            · 10x100 Kick on 2:00

            · Or AAA cut in any event

 

High School Conditioning:

This group is geard toward swimmers who would like to maintain their level of swimming in the off-season for High School Swimming.

The main focus of this group will be:

            · To improve proper swimming techniquw in all strokes

            · Perfect the fundamentals of racing starts

            · Teach proper turns for the competitive strokes

            · Harvest a deep knowledge and appreciation for the sport of swimming
