CVST & Safer-at-Home Order

CVST & Safer-at-Home Order

Dear CVST Swimmers and Parents,

With the passing of the Hillsborough County Emergency Policy Group’s “Safer-at-Home” Order, which is going into effect at 10:00 pm on Friday (3/27), CVST will be ceasing practices following the scheduled Friday practices.  This will last until further notice.  At this time, Carrollwood Country Club has not decided to close the TAC or Golf, so you can still go up to the pool and swim on your own, play some tennis or head over to the golf course as long as the CDC social Distancing Guidelines are followed and you stay six feet away from anyone else.

The CVST Coaching Staff is strongly encouraging all our swimmers to keep in touch with us during this time, and we will do the same via the CVST Web Site and especially our CVST TeamFeedThe Team Feed will be our primary source of communication.

The Coaches also want to encourage all our CVST swimmers to continue training on your own both in the water and on land.  Unfortunately, due to InsuranceRestrictions with USA Swimming, we are not allowed to send or post workouts if we are not in “line of sight” (present with you during the workout).  However, if you have your own pool, you can surely get in some type of pool workout, and everyone can do a dryland workout at home, you don’t even need equipment.  Coach Randy has been known to recommend doing planks during the TV show Jeopardy, so why not sit-ups, push-ups or other exercises during the commercials of other shows.  There are many ways to get a workout in.

While we are out of the water, we will be passing on some ideas from other age group swimming and youth sports related experts on other things you can do to keep in shape, learn about the sport and maybe even have some fun.  So, look for the box entitled COVID-19 Safer-at-Home Swimming Ideas, coming soon.

In the meantime, if you haven’t been to practice lately or even if you have, why not send us a picture or a short, 15 second video, of what you are doing to help keep in shape.  We may even post it on the TeamFeed for everyone to see.

If you would like to contact any of the Coaches during this time, the best way is through email:
