Swim Meet Information/Opt In or Opt Out

Meet Overview

  • T2 Aquatics aims to have a meet for swimmers on the team every 3-6 weeks, depending on the time of year and the swimmers training and competition schedule.
  • Participation in Home Meets is required.  Participation in Away Meets is recommended (as long as it is recommended for your training group).
  • Each meet has an individual meet page that is found on our Events Page.  This has the meet announcement, hotel information, and the T2 itinerary.  The meet announcement contains dates, times, and lists the sessions of the meet and which age groups and events are in each session.  The T2 itinerary contains the T2 specific arrival times for each session and the required meet shirt of the day.
  • All registrations for meets are done using the TeamUnify system within the T2 Aquatics website on on the OnDeck Parent TeamUnify App.  For information on how to use and download the OnDeck Parent App visit our Group Requirements page:  LINK  Information on how and when to Opt In is listed below.
  • T2 Aquatics athletes are 100% expected to attend finals on the days that they are competing in both home and away meets.  It is a part of our sport and GREAT things often happen at finals!!!

Opt In/Opt Out - When Do I?

  • I Can Go:  Great!  Please Opt In.
  • I Can Attend Only Certain Days:  Please Opt In.  If you can only attend certain days/sessions for some reason please put that in the note section when opting in.
  • I Am Unable To Go:  Please Opt Out.  Also, please email your groups lead coach and let them know.
    • Note:  We expect all T2 Athletes to attend all meets at the Norris Pool.  Swim meets are some of the most valuable learning points and fun events of our sport!  If your training group is attending an away meet we HIGHLY encourage making time for and attending those.
    • Note:  We will not enter athletes in away meets unless they Opt In.
    • Note:  Selecting events is unnecessary.  The coaching staff will select events based on the development of the athlete, time during the season and training/competition plan for that athlete/group.

Timed Final vs Prelim/Final Meets:

  • Timed Final Meets:  Most meets are “Timed Final” meets.  This means that each athlete will compete in their events one time.
  • Prelim/Final Meets:  Several meets during the year are “Prelim/Final” meets.  These are meets that have qualifying heats in the morning and then “final” heats in the evening.  There may be 8 or 10 finalists for each event depending on the number of lanes in the pool.  Sometimes, usually just for “Open” (15 and older) or “13-14” age groups, there are 2 heats of finals bringing the number of finalists to 16 or 20.  After the prelims session the results are posted and announced.  Swimmers then have 30 minutes to “scratch”, which is declaring that they will not be swimming in finals.  After the 30 minutes has passed then the remaining top 8, 10, 16, or 20 swimmers will be in “finals”.  There are also alternates designated after the 30 minutes have passed.  These alternates have the opportunity to go to finals and will be put into the final if a swimmer scheduled to swim in finals does not show up.  If you are scheduled to swim in finals after the 30 minute time period has passed and you do not show up for the final you will be removed from your next scheduled event at most meets.

T2 Aquatics athletes are 100% expected to attend finals on the days that they are competing.  It is a part of our sport and GREAT things often happen at finals!!!
