              This past weekend 1,000 of the state’s best 14&under swimmers met in Sarasota to compete in The Florida Age Group Championships (FLAG’s).  GTSA was one of over 60 teams that were represented at the 4 day meet.  We had a team of 8 swimmers, 6 of which competed in individual events.  Amazingly, 4 of those 6 swimmers scored points in an individual event (Gabby Donahue, Jayson Reddick, Morgan Tankersley, & Belle Whitfield).  The 3 ladies combined for 7 top 3 finishes in the state (Belle-1, Gabby-2, & Morgan-4)!  Those...

                  This past weekend the best senior swimmers in the state of Florida convened on the International Drive YMCA, in Orlando.  The meet had over 700 athletes representing nearly 60 clubs statewide.  GTSA was represented well by 9 of our senior swimmers.  Over the three and a half day, prelim and final meet, GTSA amassed 149 point which was good enough for an 18th place finish!  That was the highest finish by any team with single digit representatives.                  Of the 9 swimmers representing GTSA at the meet 6 of...

                Morgan Tankerlsey has been invited to attend the 2014 Southern Zone Select Camp.  Each Spring USA Swimming hosts 4 camps across the country, broken up by zone (Central, Eastern, Southern, Western).  They use several different criteria to choose 28 females (ages 12-13 at the time of the performance) and 28 males (ages 13-14 at the time of the performance) to attend these 4 very selective camps.  Morgan will spend 4 days at The University of Louisville at the end of May.  She...

               This past weekend 15 teams from 4 different states met in Clearwater, FL for the Al Soltis Invitational.  After the three day prelim and final meet, that was contested Saturday-Monday due to the holida, GTSA finished with 240 points.  That was good enough for a third place finish, excluding the host team.  Exactly half of GTSA swimmers, 17 of 34, scored points in individual events for GTSA.  Even more competed on point scoring relays.  Jeffrey Smith accumulated 18 points, which was good for 3rd place in the 8&under boys...

                   This past weekend the best 18&U swimmers in America congregated in Greensboro, NC to compete in the “2013 Short Course Junior Nationals.”  Ally Donahue, attending her impressive third Junior Nationals, represented GTSA in three individual events.  She participated in the 50 Freestyle, 100 Breaststroke, and the 200 Breaststroke, earning herself a second swim in the 100 Breaststroke.                  On the Sunday following the meet USA Swimming hosted a long course time trial event for those swimmers looking to record times in that discipline.  Ally took full advantage of the...

                GTSA took nine swimmers to compete against the best the state of Florida has to offer over this past weekend.  The meet was held at The University of Florida’s O-Dome and consisted of close to 900 swimmers from Florida and beyond.  GTSA compiled 86.5 points over the three day meet good for 17th place in the 50 team meet.                 Four different GTSA swimmers finished in the top 8 in at least one of the events in which they competed including:  Regan Flynn twice (50BK, 100BK), Felipe Manzo three...

            GTSA swimmers competed at the Harry Meisel Championships this past weekend!  Not only did they compete, but they represented our team in a wonderful fashion.  The team compiled 70% best times over the two day meet.  We also had three swimmers finish in the top 5 in their individual age high point races.  Elsa DeLong compiled 95 points, which was good for 5th in the 11-12 girls.  Jayson Reddi ck, with the help of a few new FLAG cuts, collected 124 points and a second place finish in the...

              This past weekend 28 GTSA swimmers traveled to Winter Haven, FL for the Winter Haven Stingray’s “Get Rowdy and Race Meet.”  The 3 day meet was full of fantastic swims from GTSA members.  The team had a best time percentage of 77% on the weekend, with countless swimmers finishing with 100% personal bests.                 GTSA finished the 20 team meet in 10th place accumulating 347 points over the three days.  Multiple GTSA swimmers contributed to the point scoring, but three swimmers really stood out. ...
