Joe Witt Director of Performance

Joe has been the Head Coach of the Savannah Swim Team since 2008. In that time, he has developed multiple State Champions, Olympic Trials Qualifiers and 2 Olympians from Burkina Faso. 

In 2016, Joe was named as Head Coach of the Burkina Faso National and Olympic Teams.

He is currently the assistant coach for the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD). In his tenure the women’s team has won back-to-back-to-back NAIA National Championships.  

He holds a M.S. degree in Sports Medicine, and Health and Human Performance. He is currently a Professor of Health Science at Savannah State University. 

Joe is certified through the National Strength and Conditioning Association as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist with Distinction. In 2011, his research article was published in the Journal of Sports Science entitled Glenohumeral Joint Rotation Range of Motion in Competitive Swimmers.

 
William Pilczuk Junior National Team Coach

 

Coach Bill is has been with the SST program since 2008 as the interim Head Coach and volunteer consultant, helping with each group throughout the years.  Bill continue's to help mentor the team's elite group.

Bill is currently the Head Coach for the Savannah College of Art and Design. In 2016, Bill led the Lady Bees to their 1st NAIA National Championship title in the past 4 years and a repeat victories in 2018 and 2019.

Julie Woody Assistant Coach

 

Coach Julie is from Raleigh, North Carolina. As an Age-Group swimmer, she was a member of New Wave Swim Team where she was a 2 time NCSA Jr National Qualifier. After graduation she accepted a scholarship to swim at the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD).

In her swimming career at SCAD, Julie set an NAIA National Record (100Fr), 8 School Records, was awarded 6 individual All-American honors, and is a 9-Time NAIA National Champion!

She graduated in the Spring of 2016 with a B.F.A in Interior Design, and in the Spring of 2018 with a M.A. in Design Management.

In the Spring of 2020, Coach Julie qualified for the 2020 U.S. Olympic Team Trials in the 50m Freestyle. 

 
Robert Jones Head Coach - Midway

Rob is the Head Coach for all age groups for SST Liberty County location.

He joined the Savannah Swim Team in 2017 after coaching for two other USA swim clubs in Coastal Georgia area.  He was the Head Coach for the Richmond Hill Summer Swim team from August 2015 - July 2017 which competed in the Savannah Coastal Swim League.  As the Coach, he compiled a 9-0 dual meet record and won the City Meet Championship  two years in a row.   In 2017, he was a volunteer Assistant Coach for the undefeated Richmond Hill Middle School Swim Team during its inaugural swim season.

A native from northern Virginia, he was the assistant coach for the Sugarland Dolphins (Colonial Swim League) in 1989.  A year later he was the Head Coach for the Dolphins.  In 1992, he was the Head Coach for the Ashburn Farm Barracudas (now of the Colonial Swim League).  From 1992-1993, he coached a Master’s Swim Group in Muncie, Indiana.

Rob started his swimming career in 1984 in part to participate in triathlons.  While in college, he competed for three years on the Ball State University nationally ranked Cross-Country and Track Teams.

Rob holds a M.A. in Political Science from Ball State University.  In 2011, he set his PR in the marathon (2:44).   

Rob is certified instructor in CPR/AED/Basic First Aid and Lifeguarding.

He and his wife are both U.S. Army Veterans and have three children, all three who are competitive swimmers.
