Tidal Wave was represented by four swimmers at elite competitions last week. They performed well, highlighted by Allie Byerly’s new team record in the 13-14 girls 200 fly (2:24.86)! Allie, Jarrett Watkins, and Bennett Baer swam at the Southern Zones, while Isabella Klinefelter swam at the Southern Futures meet. Eleven Tidal Wave Swimmers went to Athens, and swam in the LC Senior State Championships at UGA last weekend. Four new team records were established! Isabella Klinefelter broke the 13-14 girls 50 free (27.60) and 100 fly (1:03.84)! Connor Haigh improved both of his team records in the breaststroke events: 1:04.37 and 2:18.54 in the 100 & 200, respectively.! Tidal Wave Swimmers excelled throughout the weekend at the GA 14 & Under State Championships and JO meet. Our team finished the weekend scoring the 6th most points overall, and won the runner up prize for the medium sized teams!!! Allie Byerly, Isabella Klinefelter, and Bennett Baer combined for 5 new team records and a total of 3 individual state titles!!!!! Isabella Klinefelter and Bennett Baer each broke team records at the Stu Hixon Invite!!! Klineflter, Allie Byerly, Jarrett Watkins, and Connor Haigh each surpassed previous meet records!!! And, Tidal Wave has a new swimmer wearing a white cap – Bentley Huff earned his first NCSA Junior National cut, earning the special honor! Tidal Wave swimmers competed at the Senior Spring Splash meet at Dynamo and The Mizuno Atlanta Classic at GA Tech over the weekend. Our swimmers performed extremely well, setting quite a few personal best times. At Dynamo, our swimmers enjoyed a newly covered pool, that offered great deck space and a fast tank. The short course competition season concluded with a bang at GA tech over the weekend! Sixty-five (65) Tidal Wave swimmers competed at the 11 & Over Not Divisional meet. Days were long, but time and again our swimmers performed. Isabella Klinefelter and Noah Smith each broke team records!!! Isabella broke the 13-14 girls 100 fly record with a time of 57.01, while Noah managaed a 21.01 in the 50 free. Isabella’s swim also qualified her for NCSA Junior Nationals, her first cut. Isabella Klinefelter and Bennett Baer won multiple events at the 14 & Under Short Course State Championships - GA Tech location over the weekend!!! Klinefelter took home titles in the 100 free, 200 back, and 100 fly. Baer showed his distance prowess winning the 500 and 1000 frees. Klinefelter, Baer, and Allie Byerly each bested team records! Tidal Wave’s second competition of the season, the TWS Covid Invite, was a huge success! Thank you to all parents who helped pull off the meet.
