Tidal Wave Swimming offers training and practice groups for swimmers of all ages and ability levels. It is the goal of Tidal Wave Swimming to offer age-specific training for all of our athletes geared toward challenging each individual and developing each individual to the best of his or her own unique abilities. Great White Sharks (GWS)- This group is the introductory group to year round swimming. Swimmers must be able to swim one length of the pool Freestyle and Backstroke. Emphasis will be placed on learning all four strokes. All swimmers in this group are required to bring their own kick board and fins to practice. Swimmers must indicate which days of the week they intend to swim.

Elementary Age Group (EAG)-This group is for elementary age swimmers that have knowledge of all four competitive strokes. Emphasis will be placed on all four strokes, starts and turns. Dryland will be introduced, including general conditioning and flexibility work. All swimmers in this group are required to bring their own kick board and fins to practice. Swimmers must indicate which days of the week they intend to swim.

Advanced Age Group (AAG)-This group will be comprised of older 8's to 11 year olds that are ready for a commitment to training and dryland. Emphasis will be equally placed on technique, training and dryland. Swimmers will be expected to swim a minimum of 6 times every 2 weeks and participate in recommended swim meets. All swimmers are required to bring their own kick board, fins, paddles, and pull buoy.

Elite Age Group (EL)-This group will be comprised of 11 year olds and older that are committed to training and dryland. Emphasis will be placed equally on technique, training and dryland. Swimmers will be expected to attend 8 practices every 2 weeks and participation in recommended swim meets. All swimmers are required to bring their own kick board, fins, paddles, and pull buoy.

Select Age Group (SEL)- This group will be comprised of 11-14 year olds that are committed to swimming training and dryland, and capable of doing so at a high level. Emphasis will be placed equally on technique, training, and dryland. Swimmers will be expected to attend at least 9 practices every 2 weeks, as well as participate in recommended swim meets. All swimmers are required to bring their own kick board, fins, paddles, pull buoy, and stretch cords.

Senior I (SR1)-This group is for high school swimmers striving to compete on the State, Sectional and National levels and working toward swimming in college. Swimmers will be expected to participate in all practices and dryland, with the intent of achieving excellence. Attendance at all recommended swim meets is required. All swimmers are required to bring their own kick board, fins, paddles (Standard and Agility), pull buoy, stretch cords, shoes and tempo trainers.

Morning workouts are held 2 times a week periodically through the season.
Advanced High School – Amberton only (AHS) This group is for swimmers striving to succeed on the county level, and qualify for the state championships, with a focus on events competed at the high school level. Swimmers are expected to swim at least four (4) practices per week, with high expectations of training habits, technique, and effort. Attendance at meets throughout the year is highly recommended. All swimmers are required to bring their own kick board, fins, agility paddles, pull buoy, and stretch cords.

Middle School/ High School Sprint (MSHSS) – This group is focused on preparing swimmers for the events competed in high school competition. Strength conditioning and speed development will be the focus of training. Participation in USAS meets is optional. All swimmers are required to bring their own kick board, fins, paddles, pull buoy, and stretch cords.

In addition to the groups above, we also offer the following options which each encompass a broad range of age and ability levels. Please contact us directly for more information about joining our Homeschool or Masters programs!
Homeschool Group - Our homeschool group (Great White Sharks, Elementary Age Group, and Advanced Age group) follow the same focus as our afternoon practice groups, while providing homeschoolers a more intimate training group in the middle of the day. Practice is available Monday through Friday, and swimmers are encouraged to attend practice as often as possible.
Masters (Adult) Group - NOT CURRENTLY OFFERED. Our Masters program is open to all adult swimmers including those interested in competitive training, triathlon training, and fitness swimming. No tryout is required for this group and those interested are encouraged to discuss their swim goals with the coach in order to ensure your workout best suits your needs. Practices for this group are offered Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays in the mornings from 5:30 - 7:30am at our Amberton location.
