Greg Gillette Program Director and Head Coach

Greg Gillette joined ASL as Program Director in November of 2019. Since his arrival, the club has grown from 130 athletes to over 250 athletes, and ASL has quickly risen in the State and National rankings.

Coach Greg is a firm believer in taking a methodic, patient approach to developing athletes from the younger ages into the senior levels of the sport. Throughout this process, the ownership of the sport is transferred from the parents/coaches to the athletes, to create an athlete focused, athlete driven environment. He also strives to make sure each athlete has options in training to have purposeful sessions that allow athletes to achieve the goals they've set.

He comes to Augusta after five years working with Bluefish Swim Club in New England, and stops in Los Angeles, Seattle and Chicago, where he's worked with numerous athletes and coaches who've reached the highest levels of this sport.

He is looking forward to another season of growth, development and achievement in 2022-2023!!!

Shannon Metzler Site Director Aiken

Shannon has been coaching club  and varsity swimming since August 2012, but has been swimming since she was three years old!  She has coached varsity cross country  for 4 years as well.  Her favorite part of coaching is seeing the pride in the face of a swimmer who has just accomplished a goal. Shannon likes to motivate swimmers on an individual level by finding out what excites them and why they are swimming. She swam at East High School in Rochester, NY, where she earned MVP status for three years, and swam at SUNY Morrisville where she earned an Associates Degree.  She has her Bachelors Degree in Psychology and spent more than 12 years working with families in crisis doing Family Based in-home therapy.

When she's out of the pool, Shannon enjoys triathlons, marathons, relaxing with a good book and has the most fun with her husband Matthew, son Conner and daughter Lena.
