DCS Training Group Levels

The DCS training progression, responsibilities and expectations, and monthly tuition fee are listed below. The coaching staff determines training group placement and promotion.

Novice Group ($95/month)

Age range: 5+

Practice length: 60 minutes swim plus dryland (see schedule)

Recommended practices per week:  2 to 4

Novice Group is an introductory competitive group. Swimmers are introduced to all four strokes: freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly. They perform drills to learn the proper stroke technique, as well as gain endurance and strength. This group provides swimmers an opportunity to compete in fun, low-intensity swimming competitions. Participation in swim meets for this group depends on experience and ability; however, a meet option is available approximately every 4 - 6 weeks. Meets are not mandatory but encouraged to help evaluate progress through the year. Pre-Age Group ($110/month)

Age range:  7-18

Practice length:  60 minutes swim plus dryland (see schedule)

Recommended practices per week:  3+

Note:  Advancement to this group requires approval of head coach

Pre-Age Group is an intermediate competitive group. Swimmers perform drills to improve technique in all four strokes as well as gain additional endurance and strength. Dryland training is an integral part of practice. Participation in swim meets for this group depends on experience and ability; however, frequent participation in competition is expected. A goal of Pre-Age Group is to achieve qualifying times for state level competition. Age Group ($125/month)

Age range:  9-18

Practice length:  90-120 minutes swim plus dryland (see schedule)

Recommended practices per week:  3 to 5

Note:  Advancement to this group requires approval of head coach

Age Group is an emerging, competitive group. Swimmers perform more advanced drills to improve stroke technique as well as increase strength and endurance. Workouts are structured and include dryland training. Participation in swim meets is required for this group. A goal of this group is to achieve state, sectional and National Club Swimming Association qualifying times.

Senior Group ($150/month)

Age range:  11-18

Practice length:  2 hours swim plus dryland (see schedule)

Recommended practices per week:  minimum of 5

Note:  Advancement to this group requires approval of head coach.

Senior Group is a highly competitive group. Swimmers perform interval training and advanced drills to improve stroke technique as well as increase strength and endurance. Workouts are structured and include dryland training. Participation in swim meets is required for this group and will vary depending upon level of achieved state and sectional qualifying times.

Team Elite (National Development ) ($165/month)

Age range:  14+

Practice length: 2 hours swim plus dryland (see schedule)

Required practices per week:  minimum of 7

Note:  Advancement to this group requires approval of head coach.

Team Elite is our most competitive group. Swimmers perform interval training and advanced drills to improve stroke technique as well as increase strength and endurance. Workouts are structured, including dry-land training. Participation in swim meets is required for this group and will vary depending upon level of achieved sectional and national qualifying times.
