Ian Murray
Head Coach

Ian has served as Dynamo’s Head Coach since August of 2017.  As Head Coach, Ian oversees all aspects of Dynamo Swim Club, Dynamo Juniors, and Dynamo Masters.  He coaches Senior 1, working directly with athletes at both the Alpharetta and Chamblee locations.  Ian is a dynamic leader for our organization and works tirelessly to lead Dynamo to be a model club in Georgia, the southeast, and nationally. 

Ian previously served as Associate Head Coach of Carmel Swim Club in Carmel, Indiana.  During his time at Carmel, Ian coached a Junior World Record Holder, a USA Swimming National Champion, and multiple Junior National Champions.  His swimmers have set multiple USA Swimming National Age Group Records.  Coach Murray is a USA Swimming National Team coach, served as the Head Coach of the 2019 National Junior Team trip to the Mel Zajac Invite, and served on the coaching staff of the 2016 USA Swimming College Challenge.  He has been Head Coach for both the USA Swimming National and Zone Select Camps.  The American Swim Coaches Association named Ian a 2015 Coach of Excellence.

In addition to his responsibilities with Carmel Swim Club, Ian was an assistant coach on the Carmel High School swim team, where the girls team had won 31 consecutive Indiana High School State Swimming Championships, a national record for all sports. 

Ian also served as Carmel’s Head Age Group Coach from 2006-2013.  During his tenure, Carmel won 12 Indiana Swimming Age Group Team Championships. His athletes consistently earned national rankings and broke more than 60 Carmel Swim Club records and more than 25 Indiana Swimming Records. In 2012, Ian was recognized by his peers as Indiana Swimming Age Group Coach of the Year.

Prior to Carmel, Ian coached on the staff of the Lake Erie Silver Dolphins in suburban Cleveland, Ohio, where he was an Age Group and Senior Coach.  While at Lake Erie, Ian worked with multiple members of the USA Swimming National Team, including an Olympic gold medalist.  Ian was named the 2006 Lake Erie Swimming Age Group Coach of the Year.  While at Lake Erie, Ian served on the staff of the Richard Quick/Stanford National Swim Camp and was Head Coach of the 2003 Ohio Mid-States QUAD Team and the 2004 Lake Erie Zone Team.

Ian worked as a Volunteer Assistant Coach for the Cleveland State University swim team from 2000-2001.  He was a standout swimmer at Cleveland State from 1996-2000.   As a college swimmer, Ian was a conference champion, school and conference record holder, and team captain.

Ian and his wife Jennifer are the proud parents of two children, Arran and Ainsley.


Mike Cotter
Chief Executive Officer

Mike has served Dynamo for over 25 years and has been a key leader in the organization's development, helping Dynamo grow from the original Chamblee location to multiple sites and facilities.  During his tenure, he has led the original construction and then the expansion of the Alpharetta facility, installment of the dome at the Chamblee’s 50m. pool, and the recent Chamblee facility expansion and renovation.  His long involvement with Dynamo has been a key factor in the organization’s overall success and he has been instrumental in the startup and continued success of Dynamo Pool Management, Inc.  Mike and his wife Michelle are the parents of two children.

Beth Winkowski
Associate Head Coach (Chamblee) - SR2

Coach Beth joined the Dynamo staff in the fall of 2004. She is directly responsible for coaching Senior 2 at Chamblee.  As Associate Head Coach she oversees the development and direction of the Chamblee Staff.  Prior to joining Beth served as Head Coach of the Portland Aquatic Club in Portland, Oregon.  She began her professional coaching career with PAC and spent twelve years at the helm of the program.

Beth has coached State, Sectional, and Zone champions at an individual and team level. Her swimmers consistently achieve National Top 10 rankings, as well as Junior and Senior National qualifying times.  Coach Winkowski has served as the Head Coach of the USA Swimming Zone and National Select Camps.  In addition, she has presented at numerous coaching conferences hosted by USA Swimming and the American Swimming Coaches Association.

Coach Beth’s coaching strengths include detailed and analytic stroke instruction with an eye towards body awareness, a creative and demanding training regime, and good communication with parents and athletes. She accomplishes all this while recognizing the athlete as a whole person who benefits from the permanent life lessons learned by children who participate in organized athletics.

C. Brian Wrighton
Associate Head Coach (Alpharetta), SR1, Team Billing Coordinator

Brian joined the Dynamo staff in October of 2014.  As Associate Head Coach, he is the site director at our Alpharetta location and coaches the Senior 1 group.  Brian also handles competitive team billing for all of Dynamo. Brian has more than 25 years experience coaching all levels of competitive swimming.  Most recently, Brian was the Head Coach and Program Director for the Birmingham Swim League in Birmingham, Alabama.  During his time at BSL, Brian developed many Junior National/National/Olympic Trial level athletes, many of whom swam to National Top 10 rankings.  With Brian at the helm, BSL grew from 150 to over 200 athletes. 

Prior to his stint as Head Coach at BSL, Brian spent nine years as the Head Age Group and Masters Coach for BSL.  His athletes turned in several National Top 10 rankings (age group and masters), broke numerous Southeastern Swimming records, and he had one relay break a National Age Group Record.  Brian was also highly involved with Southeastern Swimming LSC, serving as its Age Group Chair, Administrative Vice-Chair, and Laws and Legislation Chair. 

Brian is originally from Louisiana and swam at the University of Alabama, graduating with degrees in Elementary Education and Early Childhood Education.  He is married to the former Suzanne Black who swam at Southern Methodist University.  They are the proud parents of two children, Brian, Jr and Bonnie.

Nick Graves
Head Age Group Coach (Alpharetta) SR2, AG1 Gold, AG 3 Green

Nick Graves joined Dynamo in the fall of 2011 at our Chamblee location. During his first season, he worked with Dynamo Juniors, Senior 2, Senior 1, and was the lead coach for AG2 Green. Since spring 2012 he has coached in Alpharetta as the lead coach for AG1 Gold and as an assistant with Senior 1. Since the Fall of 2014, he has also served as the lead coach for Senior 3 Gold. In September 2015 he assumed the role of the Head Age Group Coach. 

Prior to joining Dynamo Nick spent two seasons coaching in Tallahassee, Florida with the Maclay Northside Dolphins.

  Prior to coaching, Colonel Nick swam competitively for 16 years. In college, Nick swam at Florida State where he focused mainly on distance races. Nick finished 14th in the 1500m freestyle at the 2008 U.S. Olympic Trials.  During Nick’s junior and senior year he swam for Gary Taylor, also a former Dynamo coach.  Nick graduated from Florida State University in the Spring of 2011 with a degree in History. 

Cecelia Tripp
Chamblee SR3 Gold, AG2 Gold

Cecelia originally started with Dynamo in August 2011 as the Senior 1 Assistant and Age Group 2 Gold Coach at Chamblee.  In the spring of 2012, she took over as the lead coach for Senior 2 and Age Group 2 Green at the Alpharetta location and was in that role until the fall of 2014.  Cecelia spent the 2014-2015 season as the Head Coach of the YMCA of the North Shore Sharks in Boston but returned to Dynamo in 2016 and is currently the lead coach for Senior 3 Gold and Age Group 2 Gold at Chamblee.

Prior to Dynamo, Cecelia spent 2007-2011 as the Senior Assistant and Junior group lead coach at YMCA of the North Shore.  From 2005-2007, she served as a Graduate Assistant at St. Lawrence University in Canton, New York.  During that time, she also spent a summer working at the Stanford Swim Camp.  Cecelia is a 2005 graduate of Hamilton College in central New York.  She is a certified ASCA level 2 coach. 

Nancy Williams
Alpharetta - SR3 Gold, AG2 Gold, Masters

Nancy Williams has been a member of the Dynamo coaching staff since 2004. Currently, she leads our Senior 3 Gold and Age Group 2 Gold groups at the Alpharetta site. In addition, Nancy coaches our masters athletes at the same location. She has also served as the lead coach of Age Group 3 Green, Age Group 3 Gold, Senior 3 Green, and as an assistant for Senior 1. In her time with Dynamo, Coach Williams has been responsible for start-up programs and clinics hosted by the program.

A Georgia native, Nancy swam competitively from her early years through high school. She attended Lenoir-Rhyne College on a softball scholarship while majoring in Athletic Training. She did post-graduate work in Exercise Science at Ole Miss.

Prior to joining the Dynamo family, she was Head Age Group Coach at Swim Atlanta-Roswell for two years. She led Swim Atlanta to short and long course State championships each of those years and coached several Nationally Ranked age group swimmers. Prior to Swim Atlanta, Nancy was Head Age Group Coach at Sunkist Swim Team (Jackson, MS) for two and a half years leading her team to short and long course State championships each year.

Mary Buzeta
Alpharetta - Senior & Age Group Assistant

Mary Buzeta returned to Dynamo in November 2018.   She currently works as an assistant to Senior 1 and an assistant to various age groups at the Alpharetta location.    Mary previously spent a year working in Clinton, New York as an assistant coach at Hamilton College.   From 2015-2017 she worked at Dynamo as an assistant to Senior 1 and the primary coach for AG2 Gold at Chamblee.   She has served as a volunteer assistant coach at Emory University during the 2016-17 season and from 2009 to 2011.  Prior to Dynamo, Mary was the head coach at the SwimAtlanta Hamilton Mill location for 5 years.    Mary is a certified ASCA Level 3 coach.

Mary attended Emory University, where she was a captain her senior year and received a degree in psychology.  Mary first became part of the Dynamo family the summer before her senior year when she had the honor of swimming under Jason Turcotte.  Mary had the privilege of working as a volunteer assistant with Jason the next spring.  Mary and her husband, Federico, are proud parents of a baby daughter, Augustina and they have two dogs Brisa and Emory. 

Martha Wright
Chamblee - AG3 Gold & Green, Home School

Martha Wright leads our Age Group 3 Gold and Green and Home School groups at Chamblee. Martha has been an active member of the DeKalb County community for most of her life where she began her swimming career and has been with Dynamo Swim Club coaching athletes since 2013. She swam competitively through age group and senior-level with Dynamo Swim Club and club at both Winthrop University and Georgia State University. She continues to compete competitively in triathlons, half, and full marathons and is a proponent of healthy lifestyles and living.

Martha began coaching in 2006 as Assistant Coach to the Ragin’ Rays team where she later became the Head Coach. She went on to become the Head Coach for the DeKalb County State Team. In 2013 Martha founded the Echo Ridge Masters Swim Team where she continues to introduce and train adults in competitive swimming. Her goal is to establish a fun and exciting introduction to USA swimming with younger athletes building their skills and understanding of the sport. 

Michael Kirkpatrick
Alpharetta - AG1 Green, AG3 Gold

Michael has been coaching with Dynamo since 2006 and leads the AG1 Green and AG3 Gold at our Alpharetta location. He is a native of Georgia having grown up swimming for Swim Atlanta at their Johns Creek location.  Michael began is coaching career with Tidal Wave Swimming in 2004.  Coach Kirkpatrick also spent 2006-2008 with Northview High School and 2016-2017 with North Forsyth High School.  He currently serves in the United States Navy Reserve and spent 2011 deployed in Afghanistan. 


Joji Castillo
Alpharetta - SR3 Green, AG3 Green

Joji Castillo leads Age Group 3 Green and Senior 3 Green at our Alpharetta site. He started competitive swimming at the age of 8 in Lincolnshire, Illinois with the Patriot Aquatic Club. In 1996 he moved to Georgia and swam at the Dynamo Alpharetta site. Since 2008 he has coached/taught swimming in the Metro Atlanta area. Joji has been involved with multiple YMCAs, Johns Creek High School, and local neighborhood pools coaching swimmers of all ages and skill levels.


Abigail Harty
Alpharetta - AG2 Green, AG 1 Gold, Juniors 

Coach Abby Harty is our lead coach for Age Group 2 Green at the Alpharetta site. Abby is a recent graduate of Mars Hill University in Asheville, North Carolina.  Like Coach Kenny, Abby is also a Dynamo alum.  She started swimming for the club in seventh grade in AG1 Green (formerly called AG Development) and eventually graduated from Dynamo as a member of SR2.  Abby attended Johns Creek High School where she was a member of the swim team and was a three-year GHSA finalist.  At Mars Hill University, she focused on IM, breaststroke, and distance freestyle events. Abby broke 7 individual school records and was team captain.  The past two summers she served as the Head Coach of Glastonberry's summer league swim team. 

Jesse Lewis
Chamblee - AG1 Gold, Assistant SR2

Jesse Lewis joined Dynamo in August 2018. He is the lead coach for AG1 Gold. He also assists with SR2's water and dryland workouts. Coach Jesse also serves as one of Dynamo's Meet Directors. 

Prior to the move to Georgia, Jesse spent two years in Rochester, Minnesota. He first served as Head Age Group Coach of Med City Aquatics. He coached several zone athletes and numerous team record holders. He later became Head of Club Development of the newly formed Rochester Swim Club. 

Jesse began his coaching career in his native Northeast Ohio with the Shaker Sharks, ultimately rising to the role of Head Age Group Coach. The Shark Age Group program rewrote the team record book while producing LSC event champions, zone participants, and sectional qualifiers. Jesse also spent several years as an assistant coach with the Shaker Heights High School and Hathaway Brown School swim teams. He was also the head coach of HB's Middle School swim team for two seasons, ultimately winning one conference championship.

Jesse graduated from Saint Louis University. He enjoys going on adventures with his wife Kayleigh, collecting belt buckles, and watching Green Bay Packers football.
Michael Reynolds
Chamblee- AG2 Green + SR1 Assistant
Coach Michael is the lead coach at Chamblee for Age Group 2 Green and the Assistant Coach for Senior 1. Michael is a Dynamo Alum, having been a part of back-to-back Junior National Championships in his time here.  As an athlete, Michael competed at the state, regional, and national levels. He went on to compete at the collegiate level for Cornell University and after graduation and a stint in the corporate world, he returned to the sport he loved as a college coach at Brandeis University, outside of Boston.

Since returning to his roots in Atlanta, Coach Michael has sought to always be a student of the sport and to live with GRIT. Growing up in Atlanta, Michael went to Wesleyan School where he was a High School State Champion and Record Holder. If you don’t see him at the pool, he might be at a Braves game with his wife, as they both are huge fans!

Sydney Pepper
Oakhurst- Lead Coach

Coach Sydney joined Dynamo in July of 2019 as the Lead Site Coach for our Oakhurst Location. Coach Sydney will oversee all training groups, as well as work closely with the Dynamo Swim School and Dynamo Juniors.

Sydney spent the last six years coaching at DeKalb Aquatics. There she worked with athletes 4-18 and managed many of the administrative aspects of the swim team. Prior to her time at DAQ, Coach Sydney was on staff at the Douglas County Stingrays where she served as Assistant Head Coach for three years. Since 2011, she has been highly involved with Georgia Swimming, serving as the Zone Team Manager and participating in multiple committees. She also has experience from Auburn Aquatics, Swim Atlanta, and various summer league teams. 
Coach Sydney attended the University of West Georgia and studied Psychology and Criminology. She is married to John, (also a swim coach). and they have a son named Anderson.

Amanda Tarpley
Head Coach- Juniors

Coach Amanda has nearly 20 years’ experience as a swim coach and instructor.  She joined the Dynamo staff in 2007 and is the lead coach for the Junior program at the Chamblee facility.  In addition, she has coached in the Dekalb Summer Swim League. Amanda’s passion is introducing kids to swimming and facilitating a love for the sport.

Amanda was born and raised in Lilburn, GA, and began her swimming career in the Atlanta area.  She was a top-16 qualifier in 1996 and later swam in college for the University of Kentucky. It was there that she obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Nursing and Social Work, as well as her Masters in Social Work. She is currently working part-time as a Registered Nurse for Emory University Hospital, specializing in Neuropsychiatry.

Amanda married Joel Tarpley in July 2005, and they currently reside in Lilburn with their daughter Kathryn, new baby Olivia and two dogs Maddie and Dooley.

Holly has been with Dynamo since 2010. She began her employment as a swim instructor and lifeguard.  She has been managing the Dynamo facilities since 2012.

Sean Penn

Sean Penn has been with Dynamo Swim Club since October 2011 as the Dynamo Swim School Director.  Dynamo Swim School offers swim lessons at six locations in the Metropolitan Atlanta area. 

Before joining Dynamo, Sean was the Health & Safety Aquatic Program Specialist for the Metropolitan Atlanta Chapter of the American Red Cross. Sean is married and has two children and two dogs that consume all of his free time. 

Rebecca Carpenter
Chamblee- Masters, AG Mulsport

 Rebecca Carpenter is Head Coach of the Dynamo Multisport High Performance Team and co-coach of Dynamo Masters swimming.  In triathlon, she has been racing  and coaching athletes of all ages since 2007 and began working with the masters program in 2016.  She holds a USAT Level 1 certification and Youth & Junior Certification.  



Stacy Simms

Stacy is a USAT Level 1 Certified coach. She competed in her first Iron distance in 2011 and has since finished 8 Iron distance races, numerous 70.3s, and Olympic distances. She has been a certified Massage Therapist since 2003 and is also certified by the AMerican College of Sports Medicine as a personal trainer. Stacy has been part of the Dynamo family since 2014 as a coached athlete and 2017 as a coach. She was previously coaching on her own before joining Dynamo. Stacy is a native of Atlanta and also has a small massage therapy business in Roswell. 

Kyle Bubolz
Chamblee- Assistant Coach

Kyle joins us from Chicago where he has coached for the past 7 years.  He is currently helping with SR1, SR3 Gold, AG1 Gold & Green, and AG2 Gold at the Chamblee location.

Prior to Dynamo Kyle was the Head Age Group Coach for Chicago Wolfpack Aquatic Club (CWAC) and worked with the 10&U, 11-12, and 13-14 groups over his 7 years with CWAC.  While in Illinois Kyle was a part of the Age Group and Performance Committee for the LSC.  He also swam collegiately in Illinois for Northwestern University after he grew up swimming in Waukesha, WI. Kyle enjoys drinking Monster Energy drinks.
