Purpose: To help each family and athlete have a positive and wholesome experience within the sport of swimming & First Colony Swim Team, and to have the most educated and supportive parents in USA-Swimming!

Our coaches and staff understand that questions and concerns will come up. When this happens, please speak directly to your swimmer's coach so they can explain the plan and the process for moving forward. The following articles have been selected to assist you in learning all the processes, details, and progressions in year-round swimming.

In swimming, almost everything can be divided into a “dry side” and a “wet side”. Any question about any aspect of training or competition is a “wet side” question, and should ALWAYS go to your swimmer’s lead coach first. They will be happy to help you.  If you would like to speak with a coach regarding some aspect of training or competition, please do not try to speak with them while they are on deck conducting practice.  You may contact a coach via email and set up a time to speak with them.  If you still have questions after speaking with your child’s primary coach, please make contacts in the following order until you have your questions satisfied:

Primary Coach ► Primary Coach’s Supervisor ► Division Head Coach ► Head Coach ► Board of Directors

The Secret to Developing the Best Swimmers and the Best Team

“Your child’s success or lack of success in sports does not indicate what kind of parent you are. But, having an athlete that is coachable, respectful, a great teammate, mentally tough, resilient, and does their best IS a direct reflection of your parenting.”
