Practice Group Descriptions and Structure

 

National
Recommended for swimmers 15 and over who wish to participate in Sectional, National and potentially International competitions(NASA, NCSA, ISCA, and USA swimming Junior National meets, US Open, Grand Prix and Olympic Trials). These swimmers possess the ability to compete at the National and Collegiate Level. We also work to qualify as many swimmers as possible to be USA Scholastic All-Americans in the classroom. This high intensity/high reward group trains 9 pool practices a week. Swimming in college is another main objective of swimmers in the Blue Tide National Group and assistance with the recruiting process is offered to all group members. There is also a strong emphasis on community service as well as giving back to and being leaders of Blue Tide Aquatics. Swimmers are expected to be at every practice with a minimum of 90% maintained throughout the seasons.

Senior
The Senior training group is for swimmers 13 years old and older, swimming high school and beginning highschool level training at practices. Showing the ability and maturity to handle high volume, high intensity training.

 

Age Group Program:
The Age Group Program consists of seven levels of progression, beginning with Tidal Wave and working towards State 1. As the swimmers move up from level to level, more ability and commitment will be required from the athlete.

Emphasis at the Age Group level is learning and building endurance in stroke drills, proper stroke mechanics, and kicking. Swimmers participate at local, regional, state and even national swim meets, putting the skills they've learned at practice into work at competitions.


State 
State 1 is our top training group for the age group program.  Practices are approximately 80% training and 20% technique, with a focus of making a TAGS final.  Swimmers will prepare to move to the Gold/National group, continuing to increase aerobic and anaerobic training intensity, as well as drylands.  Practices are 2 hours long, and are offered 6 days per week.  The typical age range (but not limited to) is 11-14 years old.


Silver
​Silver begins the focus on competition at the regional and state level.  Practices are approximately 60% training and 40% technique, with a focus on aerobic development.  Dryland training is introduced.  Swimmers continue to learn advanced skills and drills, as well as race strategy and meet preparation.  Practices are 1 hour and 45 minutes, and are offered 6 times per week.  The typical age range (but not limited to) is 9-13 years old.


Blue
Blue group continues to build on the training focus started in Orange.  The swimmers begin to learn advanced techniques and drills.  Practices are approximately 60% training and 40% continued instruction in all 4 strokes, starts and turns.  Practices are 1 hour and 30 minutes, and are offered 5 times per week.  The typical age range (but not limited to) is 7-12 years old.


Orange
Orange is our first competitive group, adding a training component to the practices focusing on intervals and increasing difficulty.  Practices are approximately 50% training and 50% continued instruction in all 4 strokes, starts and turns.  Practices are 1 hour and 15 minutes, and are offered 5 times per week.  The typical age range (but not limited to) is 7-11 years old.


White
White continues the focus on all 4 competitive strokes, while adding starts and turns.  Practices last 1 hour, and are offered 5 times per week.  The typical age range (but not limited to) is 6-10 years old.


Tidalwave
Tidalwave is our entry level group, focusing on learning the basic technique of all four strokes.  Practices last 45 minute and are offered 4 times per week.  The typical age range (but not limited to) is 4-9 years old.
