What is COVID-19

COVID-19 is caused by a coronavirus called SARS-CoV-2. It is spread mainly from person to person, particularly through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs or sneezes. Symptoms can range from mild (or no symptoms) to severe illness.

Everyone is at risk of getting COVID-19. Older adults and people of any age who have serious underlying medical conditions may be at higher risk for more severe illness.

Practice social distancing

If you must go out, avoid public spaces and keep your distance.

Keep hands clean

Use soap and water for 20 seconds or use 60% alcohol hand sanitizer.

Clean and disinfect

Disinfect frequently touched object and surfaces often.

Stay home when sick

Call your doctor if you have a fever, cough, or shortness of breath.

Don’t spread germs

Don’t touch your eyes, nose, or mouth. Cover a cough or sneeze using your elbow.
