Asa Lawrence Coach

Head Age Group Coach:  Gold,Developmental, Intermediate

Coach Asa Lawrence is a local product who swam for Spring High School and The Dads Club. He won the 50 yard Freestyle at the 1982 Short Course Junior Nationals.  After high school Asa accepted a scholarship to swim for Eddie Reese at the University of Texas. While at UT he became a 7-time NCAA All American, the Southwest Conference Champion in the 50 and 100 yard freestyle.  Asa was the 1987 U.S. Open gold medalist in the 50 meter freestyle.  He was a member of two USA National Swim Teams: the 1986 World Aquatic Championships held in Madrid, Spain and the 1987 World University Games held in Zagreb, Yugoslavia. Both times Asa earned a Gold Medal as a member of the USA Men’s 4x100 meter Freestyle Relay. He has been coaching since 1988 and focuses on techniques and aspects of competitive swimming.



Kevin Dalpe Coach

Coach Kevin was a life long swimmer of The Woodland Hills Wahoo Swim Team.  Coach Kevin was a graduate of Kingwood Park High School and was a member of the K-Park Men's Varsity swim team all four years. He made it to regionals and was an alternate at state his senior year.  While swimming under Coach Greg McLain learned the value of hard work and swimming technique. Since graduation, he was an assistant coach for the Woodland Wahoo's in 2015 and an assistant coach for Forest Cove Frogs in 2016. Coach Kevin will be the Head Coach for Forest Cove Frogs in 2017 and 2018.  

Hunter Thorsen Coach

Coach Hunter swam for several year-round teams including NEHA, NCAT, and Blue Tide.  He swam competitively for 5 years in which his best strokes were freestyle and breaststroke.  He also swam for the summer league team, Forest Cove Frogs.  During his high school years, he became a water safety certified instructor, and taught at the Lake Houston Family YMCA.  He later starting his own business teaching private lessons.  After graduating high school and completing dual credit classes at Lone Star Community College, he  transferred to Baylor University as a Business Major with a Minor in Leadership.   Coach Hunter is excited to meet everyone and grow with our team.

Katie Power Coach

Coach Katie has been swimming since she was four years old. She started out with the Greentree Gators summer league team and since then has swam for NEHA, TWST, and the University of Houston D1 swim team. Throughout the years she has qualified and medaled at meets including: TAGS, Sectionals, Junior Nationals, NCSA's and NASA. She has been coached by many great coaches including: Asa Lawrence, Tim Bauer, and Ryan Wochomurka. During these years she has also achieved Texas All-State and Scholastic All American Titles. In college she has helped bring the team to two more conference winning titles and achieved All Honors conference ranks, while also being a part of the team for the first time it has ever been ranked in NCAA D1 athletics since it was started. She previously has coached for the EMC Eels and is on the Board of the Student Athletic Advisory Committee at UH. She is studying Biology, with minors in mathematics and chemistry, with the hopes to be a Primary Care physician.
