Jason Wedlick Head Coach of Senior/Age Group Program

Coach Jason is the Head Coach of RICE Aquatics and Lead Coach for  Senior Group and Group 3.

Coach Jason is beginning his 14th  year as Head Coach for RICE Aquatics. Under his leadership the team has grown to over 200 swimmers and seen swimmers achieve a new level of excellence. RICE Aquatics has developed into the top 300 ranked USA swim team during this time. 

Coach Jason’s ability to implement proper stroke technique and mechanics while keeping the atmosphere fun and enjoyable for the swimmers has allowed his swimmers to achieve success at all levels of swimming. Coach Jason’s swimmers have achieved numerous TAGS, State, Sectional, Jr National, National  qualifiers. Coach Jason has been active with the GULF LSC having prevously served as the Admin Vice Chair of GULF Swimming. Prevously he has served on multiple committees and select coaching of the Gulf All-Star team, Gulf Zone team and "Catch the Spirit" camps. Coach Jason was selected to be the Head Coach of the Zones Team 2008 and 2015 NACC team for the GULF. Coach Jason was a member of the USA Swimming Committe for Club Development from 2014 - 2018.

Jason Devine Head Age Group Coach

Coach Jason is the Lead Coach for Group 2 and 4 White. Jason is also working directly with all Group's 1-4 and assisting with Senior Navy.


Jason has been coaching in the GULF the last 12 years having served roles as Head Age Group Coach at DADS club and previously Katy Aquatics. Coach Jason’s passion for coaching and skill driven teaching methods has earned him recognition as the GULF Age Group Coach of the Year in 2012, 2015 and 2016. Jason has experience coaching Masters, Developmental Age Groupers through National level swimmers. Under his coaching his swimmers have excelled at all levels of competitions. Jason has coached swimmers to Jr National, Sectional, and USA Top 10 recognition while having multiple individual and relay TAGS champions. Jason is currently an at large member of GULF Swimming while having roles in  TPC, TAGS Committee and coached for GULF at Zones/All Star Meets. 

Tony Miller Jr. Assistant Age Group Coach

Coach Tony is the Lead Coach for Group's 1 and 3 and will assist with Group 1/2 Intro to RICE .

Coach Tony is coming off of coaching club swimming for 4 years in Cincinnati, OH for the Mercy Health Sea Wolves. While there he coached the High school and 12 & under groups. Aside from competitive swimming at Mercy Health, Tony helped start an affordable swim lesson program for lower-income families in the Cincinnati area.  Tony also spent 2 seasons coaching for Loveland high school. 


Tony spent four years as a member of the Xavier men's swimming program, contributing to the Musketeer's BIG EAST Championships in 2014, 2015, and 2016.  After graduating college, he went on to be an assistant coach at Xavier University (OH) for 2 seasons while winning one BIG EAST championship in 2019. Tony is originally from Missouri City, Texas and is a Rice Aquatics alum. He graduated from Xavier University in 2017 with a degree in Communication Studies. 







Hanna Huston Assistant Age Group Coach

Coach Hanna is the  Lead Coach for Group 4 Navy, Senior High School and Assistant Masters Coach

Coach Hanna is beginning her 3rd year with RICE Aquatics. Hanna has spent her first two years working with all levels of the program emphasizing her enthusiasim, stroke awareness and technical coaching to the swimmers. Hanna has worked with extenssivly with the Senior and Group 4 Silver/White groups during the 2020 season and was the intern lead site coach of the Briar Club location in the Summer of 2020.

Former Owl star  Hanna Huston is in her second season as an assistant swim coach at her alma mater RICE University

Hanna Huston closed out her collegiate career in 2019 as one of the top distance swimmers in school history, recording a best of 16:33.37 in the mile, a time of 10:00.91 in the 1000-freestyle and 4:49.90 in the 500. In addition to scoring for the Owls every year at the Conference USA Championships, she finished third overall at the 2017 CSCAA Collegiate National Open Water Championships in Kansas. Later that same season she was a Top 8 finisher in the 1650-free at the CSCAA National Invitational (often nicknamed the 'Swimming N.I.T.').

Huston was a regular member of the C-USA Academic Honor Roll throughout her collegiate career. She was also the 2017 recipient of the program's Kathryn Scholl True Blue Spirit Award, which is presented annually to the Owl who "has shown dedication, discipline and leadership, but most importantly, has been an inspiration to her teammates with her consistent hard work and commitment to the team concept." In her final semester as a Rice student-athlete, Huston was recognized by Conference USA as one of the league's Spirit of Service Award winners for her various community outreach initiatives. While at Rice she was a menber of Jones College.

Jessica Rodriguez Masters Coach

Coach Jessica is an assistant coach within the age group program and coaches Masters

Coach Jessica graduated from the University of North Texas. She was a student-athlete swimming all four years while completing her degrees in English Literature and Psychology. Jessica was the Volunteer Assistant Swim Coach for the University of North Texas Women’s Team for the 2015-2016 season. She was also the Head Coach for the Sugar Creek Gators Swim Team for 2014 and 2015. 

Jessica has a passion for the sport, which she hopes to instill in her swimmers. Her experience as a club, high school, and college swimmer brings a wide array of coaching techniques to her athletes.  Coach Jessica’s goal is for her athletes to have a fun experience while developing technique, strength, and focus.  

Hobie Huston Masters Coach

Coach Hobie is an assistant coach for Masters

Coach Hobie Huston begins 2021-22 as his 6th season with Rice Aquatics. Coach Hobie is an assistant coach for Masters and has been a lead coach for all of Group 4 Navy and Flight School groups and assist with many of the older groups this season.


Hobie brings with him to Rice several years in growing the entry level swimmer into one ready for more competitive swimming. Prior to joining Rice, Hobie spent 1 year coaching age group and developmental swimmers with the West Houston Aquatics Team, and 4 years as a site supervisor and lesson instructor with Katy Aquatics.


Coach Hobie, a Houston native, studied and competed on the swim team at Wayland Baptist University before returning home to begin his coaching career. In his spare time, he enjoys taking care of his dog, Millie, and maintaining several aquariums with tropical fish.
