All-

I’m sure everyone is longing for some good news these days. I promise it’s coming; I just don’t know when. I can promise you that we WILL get through this. We WILL learn from this. We WILL keep moving 4WARD.

As you may have heard, Governor Abbott issued an Executive Order that limited people in gatherings / groups to 10 to help “flatten the curve” with COVID 19 recently. Yesterday, Harris County mandated a stay at home order which prevents us from swimming for at least the next 10 days through Friday April 3. This is essential for the health and safety of our community. Remember to be patient in the face of uncertainty.

What does this mean for you? We will not be charging monthly tuition for April until we are able to resume swimming in some fashion. Upon SSAN resuming practices, we will be pro-rate (by weeks, i.e. 1 full week off 25% reduced fee, etc.) according to when we are able to swim again.

Some of you have reached out over the past week stating that you would like to support us as a team /small business and for SSAN to continue to charge your monthly tuition to help. We appreciate you wanting to support SSAN today and down the road. This will help with coach’s salaries, pool rent, taxes, insurance, etc. From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you. If you feel inclined to help during this trying time, please respond to this email.

Thank you to all for supporting and believing in SSAN through the good times, the uncertain times, and all the days ahead. We VALUE and APPRECIATE every family on this team and hope we will continue to be your swim family today, tomorrow, and always. Wishing you the best on the days to come. Sending prayers, good health, and positive vibes to you all.

Please let us know if SSAN can do anything for your family. We are here to help!

All-

The situation we are all facing is very fluid right now in our sport, community, and country. We are doing everything possible to keep our members informed, active, educated, motivated and be present the best we can. Our coaches are working behind the scenes to be even stronger than before. We are FOCUSED on serving our entire SSAN family with things we CAN do whether now or in the future. Trust that we can still get the job done for your swimmers, and will evolve to our changing environment. Now more than ever we need to TRUST THE PROCESS! We understand that all teams across the nation are swimming (if they are swimming) in uncharted waters. Each hour/day holds new information which is why we will be moving forward on a week to week basis.

At this time, we are undecided on when we will return to the water. In the end, everyone’s health is and will be the number one priority. The coaching staff has been discussing a handful of schedules to get your swimmers back in the water. We do understand that all our families will have a choice in attending practice and that some will choose to avoid all exposure for now. The Coaches will discuss Monday and get back to you later next week with updates.

NOTE: When we do get back in the water, we MUST stay within CDC guidelines of NO MORE than 10 people on deck currently, which includes 2 coaches. We would use signup genius and time slots to help manage practices. No locker rooms. Drop off kids only and other safety measures would be in place. We understand locations and times may not be ideal at this time. SSAN is a 250 swimmer-strong program. When only permitted 8 swimmers per practice, we want to provide each swimmer with an opportunity to swim.  We are willing to do it for you and your swimmers. There will be mandatory rules that will be strictly enforced to keep our coaches and athletes safe.

No matter the direction we take, SSAN will be providing your swimmers with the best Streamline Strong service whether on deck and/or virtual through dryland conferencing, online education, and more. Being a small business, we look to our monthly fees to help pay our Coaching Staff, taxes, water rental, and more. We need your continued support for Swim Streamline to provide our members the best of the best! We have provided our swim family excellent service for 12 years and will continue to do so. We are committed to your athletes. We sponsor many of their Summer League teams and other community events. Provide the best possible groups for their development. We’ve responded to the needs of flexible billing options, long term discounts, new home school/technique and fitness groups. Our team has taken travel trips, had team parties, post-workout breakfasts and the list goes on. Swim Streamline has been here through every high and low and we will face this challenge together. Stand strong with us!

I’ll end with this, ‘If it doesn’t challenge us, it doesn’t change us.” The challenge is before us. Let’s use this opportunity to create positive change in all of us. Together everyone can achieve more! We WILL overcome, we WILL stand strong, we WILL keep moving 4WARD and together as STREAMLINE!

Dear SSAN Family,

I would first like to say THANK YOU to our swimmers, parents, officials, volunteers, coaches, and community for all that you do to support SSAN. It is truly unbelievable the success we have had in the past 12 years. We started with 28 developmental swimmers. We are now a 250 member plus team with swimmers ranging from beginner to Olympic Trial qualifier. We are a top team in the Gulf/Texas, have a world 100 ranked athlete, the largest number of seniors swimming in college next fall and the list goes on. It is humbling, to say the least. We feel fortunate that we get to do what we love: swimming and working with people. Recently, we were told that our athletes were lucky to have the coaches they do. I feel blessed we have the team we do. Through all the ups and downs this short course season we have stood strong, bounced back and stayed together. This is what a TEAM does, supports one another. Again, NONE of this would be possible without each one of you. Ross and I are appreciative of what we have in our Swim Family. We truly feel the love of Swim Streamline. Congratulations on a great short season!

As stated yesterday, our member’s and staff’s health, safety and well-being are our number one priority during this time. In this everchanging environment, we are making decisions on what is best for us all.

Therefore, we will not have practice through Friday, March 20, and no private or group swim lessons will be scheduled/permitted until we gather more information this week. This is the longest break SSAN has ever taken. We operate differently than many teams that surround us in terms of time off. Since we are a coached owned club, we have been able to make decisions quickly and have always treated families equally with respect, dedication, and generosity. Our members invest a lot of time, energy and money into our team. Ross and I have always taken customer service seriously. Today we should not only think of our members and coaches but also our community.

Some may not like this decision, but it is temporary. How many of you in your swim career have been out of the water due to illness, injury, family vacations, academic overload only to come back stronger? If we are truly Streamline Strong, we will come back more focused, more prepared mentally and physically, (Coaches will be sending dryland exercises and other recommendations this week) more rested and hopefully realize what is most important not only to each swimmer but each family. When was the last time you had quality family time in our jammed packed schedules? Take this time to do things as a family. Play board games, ride bikes, sit down and write notes to friends and/or family and mail them something personalized (this is what some adults remember doing).

As for meets, we are on hold until April 12 unless this changes. If anything changes on meets for USA Swimming, I will let you know.

We appreciate your support and patience during this trying time.

Coach Laura
