At SSAN, we will abide by the rules set forth to help keep us all safe and healthy to the best of our abilities. Please read the rules, and regulations below so you are prepared for practice each week. We would appreciate full participation and support in all below.

Facility, Local, State, and Federal Requirements

SSAN has a COVID-19 Task Force responsible for staying up to date on current recommendations and any associated changes with guidelines and recommendations for the COVID-19 pandemic.

 

Facilities- Updated September 4, 2020

Northcrest and Inway

  • The Northampton MUD pool management is monitoring pool chemicals, keeping the pool sanitation levels at instructed 2.0 PPM.
  • Bathrooms are for emergency use only.
  • The coach will control access to the Entrance and Exit gates.
  • The Entrance gate will remain open for 10 minutes for (5 minutes prior to practice start and 5 minutes after practice start).
  • The Exit gate will remain open for 10 minutes after the completion of practice.
  • Equipment will not be available to borrow during practices

Windrose and Windrose Bend

  • The Windrose pool management company is monitoring pool chemicals, keeping the pool sanitation levels at instructed 2.0 PPM.
  • Bathrooms are for emergency use only.
  • The coach will control access to the Entrance and Exit gates.
  • The Entrance gate will remain open for 10 minutes for (5 minutes prior to practice start and 5 minutes after practice start).
  • The Exit gate will remain open for 10 minutes after the completion of practice.
  • Equipment will not be available to borrow during practices.

Auburn Lakes

  • The Auburn Lakes pool management company is monitoring pool chemicals, keeping the pool sanitation levels at instructed 2.0 PPM.
  • Bathrooms are for emergency use only.
  • It is strongly recommended for all swimmers to arrive in their swimsuit due to limited locker room use.
  • Locker room use before practice is limited to one swimmer at a time.
  • Locker room use is prohibited after the completion of practice.
  • The coach will control access to the Entrance and Exit gates.
  • The Entrance gate will remain open for 10 minutes for (5 minutes prior to practice start and 5 minutes after practice start).
  • The Exit gate will remain open for 10 minutes after the completion of practice.
  • Equipment will not be available to borrow during practices.
  • Parents will not be allowed inside the facility but may drop their swimmer(s) off at the entry door and pick up at the exit door.

 

Klein Oak High School Natatorium

  • The Klein Oak pool management company is monitoring pool chemicals, keeping the pool sanitation levels at instructed 2.0 PPM.
  • Bathrooms are for emergency use only.
  • It is strongly recommended for all swimmers to arrive in their swimsuit due to limited locker room use.
  • Locker room use before practice is limited to one swimmer at a time.
  • Locker room use is prohibited after the completion of practice.
  • KISD Supervisor will control access to the Entrance and Exit gates.
  • The Entrance gate will remain open for 10 minutes for (5 minutes prior to practice start and 5 minutes after practice start).
  • The Exit gate will remain open for 10 minutes after the completion of practice.
  • Equipment will not be available to borrow during practices.
  • Face masks are REQUIRED at all times in the building and natatorium except for when you are in the water (e.i. swimmer is outside of the water or using the locker room before/during practice)
  • Failure to wear a mask will result in removal from practice and possible future practices.
  • Parents will not be allowed inside the facility or natatorium but may drop their swimmer(s) off at the entry door and pick up at the exit door.

 

 

Safe Practices- Updated July 22, 2020

  • We will have a minimum of 2 certified USA Swimming coaches on the pool deck with possible additional staff members
  • Athletes/coaches who begin to cough/sneeze for any reason must move away from others until coughing/ sneezing dissipates.
  • Athletes are not permitted to use the showers at Windrose, Auburn Lakes, and Klein Oak High School.
  • All athletes must come dressed in his/her swimsuit.
  • Coaches will be wearing masks before/after practices while opening/closing gates and while cleaning bathrooms (after an emergency use). At Klein Oak coaches will wear masks throughout the practice. 
  • Risk factors for consideration to participate include autoimmune disease, diabetes, asthma, cardiovascular disease, etc.
  • Markers will be placed outside entrance gates for swimmers to stand while waiting for gates to open.
  • Markers will be placed behind each lane on either side for swimmers to place his/her belongings.
  • Parents/Guardians will not be allowed to linger outside gates or in/around pavilions.

 

Preparing to Swim- Protecting against infections- Updated September 4, 2020

Before Swimming:

  • Arrive in your suit.
  • Items to bring:
    • Towel
    • Cap
    • Goggles
    • Water bottle
    • Equipment bag (there will be no equipment to borrow)
  • Wash your hands with a disinfectant soap and water (for 20 seconds or longer) or use a hand sanitizer if soap and water are not readily available, before going to the pool.
  • Do not share equipment.
  • Bring a full water bottle to avoid touching a tap or water fountain handle.
  • If you need to sneeze or cough, do so into a tissue or upper sleeve/arm area.
  • Arrive as close as possible to when activity begins.
  • Avoid touching gates, fences, benches, etc.
  • Do not attend practice if you or a member of your household does not feel well.
  • Immediately report to assigned lane and put belongings at a marked location behind said lane.
  • At Klein Oak High School face masks are REQUIRED at all times except for when you are in the water.
  • At Northcrest, Inway, Windrose, Windrose Bend, and Auburn Lakes face masks are recommended to wear outside the gate before practice and upon leaving the pool deck

 

When Swimming:

  • Follow directions for spacing and stay at least six feet apart from others.
  • Do not make physical contact with others, such as shaking hands or giving a high five.
  • Avoid touching your face.
  • Avoid sharing food, drinks, or towels.
  • Maintain appropriate social distancing from other athletes when taking a break.
  • Wear your suit to and from practice.
  • If unable to put on swim cap by one’s self, wear a cap to practice.

 

After Swimming:

  • Leave the facility as soon as reasonably possible after practice.
  • Wash your hands thoroughly or use a hand sanitizer after leaving the pool.
  • Do not use the locker room or changing area.
    • Shower at home, wear your suit to and from practice.
  • No extra-curricular or social activity should take place.
    • No congregation after swimming.
  • Face masks must be worn exiting the pool and building at Klein Oak High School.

 

 

Expectations for Training

  • Practices will emphasize movement quality over quantity; proper movement is key.
    • The team has been out of the water for 7 weeks.
  • Group practice sizes will remain small to comply with State and Federal guidelines.
  • Practices will remain staggered to prevent the exposure of possible infection.
  • Focus will be on a healthy environment, quality experience, progressive training, and safety.
  • No expectations for competing at this time.

 

Failure to Comply

  • Swimmers that do not follow these rules will be removed from practice and possible future practices.
    • 1st failure to comply will result in the removal from the current practice.
    • 2nd failure to comply will result in the removal from practice for 7 days.
    • 3rd failure to comply will result in removal from practice for 14 days.
  • Parents that do not follow these rules will result in the removal of their swimmer(s) from practice and possible future practices.

 

  • 1st failure to comply will result in the removal of their swimmer(s) from the current practice.
  • 2nd failure to comply will result in the removal of their swimmer(s) from practice for 7 days.
  • 3rd failure to comply will result in the removal of their swimmer(s) from practice for 14 days.

 

Positive Test Procedure- Updated July 24, 2020

  1. Should a Coach or swimmer test positive or otherwise is diagnosed with COVID-19, the following measures will be required.
    1. A minimum of 14 days of self-quarantine from the positive test
    2. 72 hours with no symptoms
    3. A negative viral test (usually a nasal swab test) OR a doctor’s note.
    4. The family of swimmers who have trained in the same lane or adjacent lanes to the swimmer will be notified and those swimmers should be more closely monitored for symptoms
    5. The groups that the coach has worked with in the last 48 hours will be notified and those swimmers should be more closely monitored for symptoms
    6. The swimmer or coaches name will remain confidential per legal requirements
    7. Antibody Test will not be used for returning to the pool – Click here for link to differences in Covid-19 Testing
      1. Reminder:
        1. A viral test tells you if you have a current infection
        2. An antibody test tells you if you had a previous infection or may still be infected
  1. Should a swimmer or coach have close contact (within six feet) for a prolonged period of time (15 minutes or more) with someone who has been diagnosed with COVID-19 or is presumed to be COVID-19 positive, the following measures will be required
    1. A minimum of 72 hours of self-quarantine with no symptoms, a negative viral test (usually a nasal swab test) and a doctor’s note
      1. If a second negative nasal swab test for the virus is recommended by your health care provider, that test would also need to be negative prior to returning to the pool and a doctor’s note.
    2. Or A minimum of 14 days of self-quarantine, no symptoms in the last 72 hours and a doctor’s note
      1. No additional close contact with the infected individual
