Does it cost to attend a swim meet?

Yes, the cost of swim meets vary based on location and whether or not it is a championship meet.

How much do swim meets cost?

  • Local meets- SSAN will charge $0.50 per event per swimmer for swims at meets plus an additional $5.00 per swimmer surcharge in addition to the meet host fees. This fee will help offset Coaches' travel and relay costs for every meet. Travel fees will be calculated and charged as needed.
  • Out of town meets in Texas- A $25 per swimmer travel fee per meet for any meets attended in the state of Texas. This helps cover extra expenses for coaches such as hotels, flights, etc.
  • Out of state meets- A $50 per swimmer travel fee per meet for any meets attended outside the state of Texas. This helps cover extra expenses for coaches such as hotels, flights, etc.

When/Where are swim meets?

Swim meets take place once a month, with some months having two meets available. During Short Course Season swim meets tend to take place in the Spring/Klein area. During Long Course Season our meets vary from The Woodlands, Cypress, and even down in Sugarland. Championship meet location varies depending on the level of swimmer. These meets could be local, in College Station, Austin, or Dallas, and even out of state.

Do I have to have a qualifying time for meets?

Most meets do not require your swimmer to have a qualifying time in an event to swim that event. You can always look through the meet announcement for more details or ask your child’s coach
