Little Splash Classes

Group learn-to-swim classes

When are where are the classes?

  • Every Tuesday and Thursday at the Klein Oak High School Pool

How long are the classes?

  • 30 minutes a class
  • If a class ends up as a private lesson (one swimmer), the class will only be 20 minutes

What time are the classes?

Level times are subject to change.

  • Level 1 Guppies at 4:30 pm
  • Level 2 Sea turtles at 5:00 pm
  • Level 3 Rays at 5:30 pm

Makeup days will be held on either Monday or Wednesday. We will only hold makeup classes due to insufficient weather or a facility event. 

How much are the classes?

  • $90 a month for 8 classes

How do I know which class to register for?

  • If this is your first time with SSAN's Splash program, please email our Lesson Director, [email protected] to set up an evaluation
  • At the end of each month, reports cards will be given to each student to show progress and future group level

  • Registration will be the last week the month before classes begin, opening up on Monday and closing on Friday

 

 

Barracudas Classes

  • Level 4 Barracudas at 6:00 pm

Makeup days will be held on either Monday or Friday. We will only hold makeup classes due to insufficient weather or a facility event. 

How much are the classes?

  • $100 a month

How do I know which class to register for?

  • At the end of each month, reports cards will be given to each student to show progress before moving into SSAN's Swim Team

Cuttlefish Classes

When and Where are the classes?

  • Every Wednesday at 5:30 pm at the Klein Oak High School Pool

How much are the Cuttefish classes?

  • $75 a month- This is the cheapest around!

How long are the classes?

  • 20-30 minutes a class

What will we focus on?

  • Breath control
  • Repetitive routine for safety
  • Muscle memory for young swimmers
  • Technique and skills unique to each child

What is SSAN Splash Program Policies?

  • One parent will be in the water for the class and must be 18 or older
  • Babies must be double diapered with a disposable swim diaper and a reusable swim diaper cover.
  • Babies will respond to how comfortable and at-ease the parent is in the water
  • Babies will sometimes cry, so it is ok to walk away from the group, distract, and then come back to class. It is important to go through the motions so the child knows it is ok and what to expect.

 

Want to know about our different levels?

Level 1 Guppies- This class is designed for children who are ready for swim lessons without their parent(s) and willing to work with an adult coach. Prior swim lesson experience is strongly encouraged. The child must be able to listen, be separated from their parents during the lesson, work in a group, follow instructions, and wait for their turn. This class will focus on getting the child comfortable in the water, blowing bubbles, putting their face in the water, kicking, jumping into the water to the instructor, begin front/back floating, and beginning water safety.

Level 2 Sea Turtles- This class is for beginner swimmers who are comfortable putting their face in the water. They must be able to listen, be separated from their parent during the lesson, work in a group, follow instructions, and wait for their turn. Skill focus is front/back floating and gliding, kicking with straight legs, jumping into shallow and deep water, advanced water safety, and begin learning the competitive strokes of freestyle and backstroke. 

Level 3 Rays- A swimmer must have complete the skill requirements in level 2 to advance to level 3. The child must be able to listen, be separated from their parents during the lesson, work in a group, follow instructions, and wait for their turn. This class is for intermediate swimmers that can swim short distances by themselves. Skill focus is breathing to side in freestyle, learning backstroke arms, treading water, jumping/diving into the deep end, horizontal rollovers, somersaults, and fundamental dolphin kick.

Level 4 Barracudas- A swimmer must have completed the skill requirement in Level 3 to advance. The swimmer must be able to swim a 25-yard freestyle and a 25-yard backstroke unassisted. The child must be able to listen, be separated from their parents during the class, work in the group, follow instructions, and wait for their turn. Class focus includes learning how to circle swim, have proper swim practice etiquette, learning freestyle and backstroke drills, and increasing swim team vocabulary.
