The Sharks Summer Squad is for you!

 

The Sharks Summer Squad is a May-July only, skills-based, swim team.

Summer Squad 2023: We're working on finalizing the swim season, practice schedule & meet schedule. We will be offering both a morning and evening practice option this year. 

Morning practices: Location to be confirmed by April 1. 
Evening practices: Clear Springs HS pool - REGISTRATION OPEN March 1

 

 

During the Sharks, Summer Squad swimmers will work on building stroke skills for all four competitive strokes: freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke & butterfly. Swimmers will also learn how to do racing starts, and stroke-appropriates turns and will build overall swimming fitness.

General Info & minimum skills:

  • complete 25 yards of free and back
  • swimmers may join in late May or June after completing private or group lessons.
  • Swimmers need a swimsuit & pair of goggles.
  • Swimmers are not required to purchase a team suit or specific equipment.
  • Swimmers have 3 swim meets they can compete in. The meets are not required.
  • Current Swim Fit swimmers will receive a 10% discount if they continue with the summer squad for the full season.
  • There are no refunds after 1 day of practice.

Swimmers are broken into 3 groups based on age & ability:
  *Swimmers can register for either Clear Springs HS or our morning pool TBD. 
  * Clear Springs practices run Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. The morning pool will run practices Tuesday-Friday.
  *Swimmers are NOT expected to be at every practice. We recommend swimming 2x+/week
  *Swimmers will have Saturday practices at FHS approximately 2x/ month focusing on starts.  

 

We have ongoing intake until the team is full. Swimmers may join after completing private or group lessons in May or June.

Meet Changes for '23: We will be running the meets combined girls/boys this year. We have 1 or 2 teams that will be participating in the meets as well. The 3 meet dates are listed below. We may have the option to go to the away team for a meet as well. The meet schedule with updates will be firmed up by the start of the Summer Squad season.

Important Dates:

Tryouts on Saturdays at Friendswood HS April 1,8,15, May 6,13. Additional dates will be scheduled closer to the start of the Summer Squad.

  • Parent Meeting on Zoom Thursday, May 11
  • Monday, May 15 1st day of Summer Squad 
  • Friday, June 16 Swim Meet #1-  girls/boys will be combined
  • Friday, June 23 Swim Meet #2- girls/boys will be combined
  • Friday, July 21 Swim Meet #3- girls/boys will be combined
  • Friday, July 28 last day of the summer squad
