SafeSport: Member Participation Required
Hello HEAT Families,
The USA Swimming Safe Sport Club Recognition program allows a USA Swimming member club to demonstrate its commitment to creating a healthy and positive environment, free from abuse for all its members, through the development and implementation of club governance measures, Safe Sport policies and reporting mechanisms, Safe Sport best practices, and training for athletes and parents.
USA Swimming has recently strengthened the requirements for being a "Safe Sport" recognized team. In keeping with our team's commitment to providing a healthy and positive environment for all our members, we are actively working to comply with the new requirements.
There are 2 important requirements that we can only achieve with the help of our families:
- Safe Sport training for parents.
- Safe Sport training for athletes 13 and over.
We are asking that at least one parent from each family and all athletes 13 and over, take the required online training as quickly as possible. We will NOT receive our recognition until the training has been completed.
To find the training:
- Log in to your USA Swimming account.
- If your child is taking the SafeSport for Youth Athletes course, they will need to log in to their own account using their own login. You can create a youth login from the dashboard by viewing your child's Member Card (under My Family) and then following instructions to create the login.
- Click on "Education" and then "Course Catalog."
- Click "Safe Sport Courses" on the left-hand side.
- Select either "Parent's Guide to Misconduct in Sport" or "SafeSport for Youth Athletes 13-17" as appropriate.
Both trainings can be completed in about 1 hour.
Thank you so much for actively participating in making our team safer and ensuring we can maintain our record of being a "Safe Sport" recognized team.
