ASC Families, Many thanks for your support of the sixty-one swimmers who participated in the home competition. It was a team effort for sure as the athletes swam and parents ran concessions, hospitality, put up zero-waste stations, officiated, timed, set-up, cleaned up, were deck marshalls, sorted ribbons and more... To those who were there to help and those who supported with donations of items or $$, thanks for the great teamwork! Here's the low down on those who reached a new level. Courtesy: Elizabeth Wickham My 10-year-old daughter is fast at freestyle and likes to swim it at meets. The coach keeps entering her in different events even though she doesn’t like to swim them. I want her to enjoy swimming but she dreads the butterfly and especially breaststroke. She gets stressed out before those events. Do you have any advice on if we should talk to the coach about this and ask him to not enter her in those events? —Freestyle Mom ________________________ Dear Freestyle Mom, We went through the same...

ASC Parent's, Please read and share it as appropriate with the age of your swimmer in the program. For Silver Group, where advancing in competition begins, some of this info below starts to take hold. Thanks for your support of your swimmer and the ASC Coaches and program. Hello there! It’s a tale as old as time. And it replays every season. Goes a little something like this… At the...

Having spent most of my life on deck and in the pool I recently heard the best advice a swim parent give their little swimmer.  By Oliver Poirier-Leroy Having been in and around the pool deck for almost my entire life I have seen all manner of swim parent. You got the red-faced screamer. The parent who thinks he is the coach. The bubble-wrap optimist. The scoreboard whisperer. And everything else in between. What do they all have in common? They are trying to do right by their kid. They are...

The 2019 USA Swimming Senior Sectionals wrapped up and ASC's swimmers, Brock Imonen, Kaden Parker and Jacob Schnitzler were able to come away with personal bests on the largest stage which they've been on. Swimming at this level and hitting a best-time is a great accomplishment, especially as they face many other swimmers who compete at the US National Championship level.  Jacob led the way for ASC with a final in the 100 freestyle and a 21st place finish.  I'm proud of them for their effort and for how they've approached...
