Aulea is a competitive swim club and most swimmers are expected to compete in swim meets. Participation in meets helps kids continually improve, adds to their enjoyment and contributes to a strong team. Aulea participates in most meets held on Oahu throughout the calendar year. A list of upcoming meets is available in the EVENTS page (as it gets closer more information will be emailed to you and posted on the web site).

Here’s an overview of meets – please also refer to specific pages for STANDARDSMEET TYPESINCENTIVESRIBBONS and helpful hints for your FIRST MEET.

Seasons: The swim year is divided into two seasons. The short course season (SCY) consists of meets held in 25-yard pools and runs from August through February. The long course season (LCM) consists of meets held in 50-meter pools and runs from March through early July. Each season culminates with a state championship meet for swimmers who have achieved Qualifying times.

Expectations: Each swim group has different expectation for the number and type of meets they are expected to swim. Please refer to the GROUPS page for each group’s expectation.

Registration: Registering for meets and specific events is the responsibility of parents and swimmers (ideally after consultation with their coach). You will receive one or more emails with information on the meet and how to register (you can also register from the web site once you are logged in). If, after entering a meet, your child cannot participate, notify the entry person and the swimmer's coach to assist in planning for meet relays.

Location: Most swim meets are held at Veterans Memorial Aquatic Center (VMAC) which is located at Central Oahu Recreation Park (CORP) in Waipahu. Aulea hosts two meets at our pool. Other meets are occasionally held at locations such as Kaneohe District Park, Manoa or Iolani. The meet notice (or emails to you) will indicate the location. Mini meets/intersquad meets for Intro/Bronze/Silver are sometimes held at Kokokahi YWCA. Address and directions to many of these pools can be found at COMPETITION/POOLS.

Cost: The entry fees for swim meets are typically $2-3 per event and most kids swim 3-4 events per meet. These fees will automatically be charged to your Aulea account so you do not have to worry about it.

Results: Meet results are updated within a few days of the meet. To view results for your child or the team, go to My Account/My Results. Also, be sure to follow Aulea on Instagram to read highlights of each meet. You can also view results directly from Hawaiian Swimming
