Its been 14 months since Kamehameha Swim Club has had a meet on Hawaiian soil. Most of the swimmers have not taken a leap from a starting block much longer than that, but that didn’t stop personal best times from rolling in. There were many fast times all around, but due to there being so many we’ll stick to five top improvements for both the boys and the girls. Kamehameha Swim Club swam their first races in over a year at the ISCA International Senior Cup, March 23-27 in St. Petersburg, Florida. 17 KSC Swimmers attended the meet. This meet comprised of a short-course preliminary and a long- course final, keeping the swimmers on their toes the entire event. Briscoe Beaton’s determination and drive in the meet led to a 3rd place finish in the 16 and under 800 freestyle and 1500 freestyle events. Big Weekend! Medals, records, and many best swims to celebrate. Girls 15-18 kicked off Day One with a Hawaii State Record in the 800 Freestyle Relay, and the fast times continued. Congratulations to all swimmers, all age groups, first time competitors and our high school seniors. Nice to see the results of the swimmers hard work! Kamehameha swimmers were busy over the past couple weeks at four different meets on the west coast. Anu Nihipali and Jasmine Mau competed at the National Championships in Irvine, CA. Anu's top finish came in the 50 backstroke going 30.31 for 51st place in the country. Jasmine's top swim was a 48th place finish in the 100 back at 1:03.76. Her 100 backstroke broke both the 17-18 and Open Hawaiian State Records. At the same time, KSC swimmers were racing the Western Age Group Zone Championships in Federal Way, WA....

Congratulations to all the swimmers that participated in the 2014 Long Course State Championships. KSC came away from the meet with their 24th straight State Championship title. A very competitive meet pushed the swimmers to very fast times. Five individual Hawaiian State Records were broken by KSC swimmers. For the 17-18 age group Ryan Stack broke the 100 Free record with a 51.60, and Jasmine Mau took down the 200 Fly record with a 2:16.49. 10 and under Grace Monahan broke three records over the course of the meet. KSC swimmers break 10 new Hawaiian Records on way to fantasitc finish at the 2014 Mission Viejo "Swim Meet of Champions". 16 KSC swimmers competed in this past weekends meet, finishing 7th place overall out of over 75 teams from around the country. Some of the highlighted performances were the Mens 400 Free Relay squad of Ryan Stack, Austin Hirstein, Kanoa Kaleoaloha, and Jacob Urbano who finished 1st with a new Hawaiian Open Record. KSC had some great swims last weekend at the Rainbow Invitational. Highlighting the individual swims was a new Hawaiian State Record by Grace Monahan. Grace swam a 1:13.39 in the 10 and under 100 fly to break the previous record set back in 2013. Grace also won the individual high point award for her age group. Also winning high point awards for the meet were Noa Copp and Austin Hirstein.
