ABC Meet VMAC Last week’s ABC meet at the Veteran Memorial Aquatic Center was the last chance for swimmers to qualify for the Bill Smith Invitational. It was to no surprise that there were major drops and lots of qualifying times from the swimmers. Kamehameha swimmers were busy over the past couple weeks at four different meets on the west coast. Anu Nihipali and Jasmine Mau competed at the National Championships in Irvine, CA. Anu's top finish came in the 50 backstroke going 30.31 for 51st place in the country. Jasmine's top swim was a 48th place finish in the 100 back at 1:03.76. Her 100 backstroke broke both the 17-18 and Open Hawaiian State Records. At the same time, KSC swimmers were racing the Western Age Group Zone Championships in Federal Way, WA....

Congratulations to all the swimmers that participated in the 2014 Long Course State Championships. KSC came away from the meet with their 24th straight State Championship title. A very competitive meet pushed the swimmers to very fast times. Five individual Hawaiian State Records were broken by KSC swimmers. For the 17-18 age group Ryan Stack broke the 100 Free record with a 51.60, and Jasmine Mau took down the 200 Fly record with a 2:16.49. 10 and under Grace Monahan broke three records over the course of the meet. KSC swimmers break 10 new Hawaiian Records on way to fantasitc finish at the 2014 Mission Viejo "Swim Meet of Champions". 16 KSC swimmers competed in this past weekends meet, finishing 7th place overall out of over 75 teams from around the country. Some of the highlighted performances were the Mens 400 Free Relay squad of Ryan Stack, Austin Hirstein, Kanoa Kaleoaloha, and Jacob Urbano who finished 1st with a new Hawaiian Open Record. KSC had some great swims last weekend at the Rainbow Invitational. Highlighting the individual swims was a new Hawaiian State Record by Grace Monahan. Grace swam a 1:13.39 in the 10 and under 100 fly to break the previous record set back in 2013. Grace also won the individual high point award for her age group. Also winning high point awards for the meet were Noa Copp and Austin Hirstein.

Hawaiian Swimming Travel Reimbursement Forms are now available. Forms must be submitted by August 31, 2014.

Kamehameha Swim Club had its best finish to date last weekend at the Age Group Sectional Championships in Federal Way, WA. Twenty-two KSC swimmers participated in the meet finishing 8th out of 156 teams. This was a huge improvement from the 22nd place finish in 2013. Three new Hawaiian State Records were broken by KSC swimmers. Jamy Lum won the 12 year old 50 Breast with a new record of 31.37. The 10 and under girls won both of their relays in State Record times. KSC finishes Senior Sectional Championship with highest team finish ever: 6th out of 160 teams! The KSC women finished 5th overall and the men finished 8th with a combined team finish of 6th overall out of 160 teams. Leading the way individually was women's high point winner Jasmine Mau. Kamehameha Swim Club swimmers had a big weekend at the 2014 High School State Championships Feb 14-15. Swimmers were well represented at the meet scoring many final swims and taking 7 individual titles while breaking 5 Hawaii High School State records. State champions included Ryan Stack (200fr, 500fr), Kanoa Kaleoaloha (100fr), Kevin Frifeldt (100fly), Jasmine Mau (200fr, 100fly), and Rebecca Walton (500fr).
