Bill Smith Invite Champions

The Bill Smith Invitational was a great success with records broken and personal best times gained. This
 
 
meet is held in honor of Bill Smith  who was a former Olympic gold medalist and Kamehameha Swim Club
 
 
coach. Thank all the volunteers for your help during this meet! Special shout-out to the Kaahaaina's, Greene's,
 
 
Eskin's, Davidson's, Keaulana's and San Diego's. Thank you again to all the volunteers, without your help this
 
 
meet would have not been made possible.
 
 
Team Records
 
Congratulations to everyone that competed throughout the weekend. We had two individuals break three KSC
 
 
team records at the meet. 
 
 
Amare San Diego secured two team records in the Men’s 11-12 50 breaststroke and 100
 
 
breaststroke with a time  of 29.69 and 1:04.32 respectively.
 
 
Cooper Ketchen captured the Men’s 10 & Under 50 backstroke team record with a time of 33:08.
 
 
High Point Earners
 
The Men’s 10 & Under division was Cooper Ketchen with 80 points.
 
The Women’s 13-14 division was Journei Webster with 72 points.
 
The Women’s 15-16 age division Sage Miller took home the high point earner with 79 points.
 
The Open Women’s division Leila Nasrallah took home the high point award with 80 points.
 
 
We had a ton of personal best times during this meet. It goes to show how much hard work our swimmers have
 
 
been putting in.
 
 
Here are some of the big swims from the weekend: 
 
 
10 & under Division
 
Alison Cox excelled in all her events with personal best times, but her best improvement was in
 
 
the 50 butterfly (35.41), dropping 5 seconds Alastair Van Der Spoel had a major drop in the 100
 
 
breaststroke (1:39.57), dropping  his time by 7 seconds.
 
 
11-12 Division
 
Caroline Biddle threw down in the 100 butterfly (1:23.07), lowering her time by 11.51 seconds. Dashiell
 
 
Liou- Johnson gained a new personal best time in the 50 breaststroke (43.99), dropping his time by 6
 
 
seconds.
 
 
13-14 Division 
 
Leina Sunada had a great showing at the meet, dropping in all of her events with the best swim being in the
 
 
in the 100  backstroke (1:09.80), dropping 5.33 seconds. Luke Biddle crushed his
 
 
100 butterfly (1:00.66) and shaved off 7.45 seconds.
 
 
15-16 Division 
 
Jayden Ching swam a spectacular swim in the 100 breaststroke (1:12.36), dropping 5.01
 
 
seconds. Kieran had a major drop  in his 200 butterfly (2:18.27), cutting 6.71 seconds off his previous time.
 
 
Open Division
 
Tehani Kealoha posted poster her fastest time in the 100 breaststroke (1:14.57) Stone Miller had a major
 
 
drop in the 200 IM  (1:59.26), dropping 9.75 seconds from his previous time.
 
 
Congratulation to all those that swam at this year’s Bill Smith Invitational. We would also like to thank all those
 
 
that donated,  volunteered and/or did both! This meet was only possible because of your help. Upcoming
 
 
meets for KSC is the Senior Championships November 18-20 and Suenaga Invitational December 3-4.
