Suenaga Invitational
At the 42nd Annual Ken Suenaga Invitational we saw amazing swims. Thank you to all the parents that volunteered and cheered on your swimmers from the sidelines. Thank you for supporting your swimmers to be the best they can be.
We had two high point earners and one team record at this week’s invite. Amar’e San Diego captured the high point earner award in the boys 11-12 division. Amar’e also beat his own team record in the 100 breaststroke with a new team record time of 1:03.86. Aaron Zhao captured high point earner award in the boys 13-14 division. Congratulations to these two for their hard work.
In the 10 and under division we had Alastair Van Der Spoel and Riley Hamlin drops big times in their events. Alastair dropped 2.81 seconds in the 50 backstroke, clocking in at a new personal best time of 46.63. Riley swam her best in the 100 butterfly with a finals time of 1:32.50, dropping her previous time by 5.61 seconds. Congratulations to you both.
In the 11-12 division both Luke Garlin and Anya Pivonka had major improvements in the majority of their races. Luke dropped almost 32 seconds in his 200 freestyle, clocking in at a time of 2:27.62. Anya dropped 23 seconds in her 200 backstroke with a time of 2:24.85. Congratulations to you both.
In the 13-14 girls’ division Capri Greene made a huge cut in her 200 medley, lowering her time by 6 seconds with a new personal best time of 2:30.62. In the 13-14 boys division Kainoa Joseph had a 1.5 second drop in the 50 freestyle with a new personal best time of 24.23 which is a state qualifying time. Congratulations to you both.
Lastly in the 15-18 boys division Taro Tsuji made a significant improvement in his 400 IM, lowering his time by 9 seconds and finishing with a time of 4:40.25. In the 15-18 girls division Jordyn Nishimura crushed all her events with her best being the 200 freestyle, dropping 18 seconds and gaining a new personal best time of 2:01.25. Congratulations to you both.
