Hawaii Short Course Age Group Championships
VMAC State Championships
The 2023 Short Course State Championships was held at the Veteran Memorial Aquatic Center last weekend, Congratulations to all the swimmers that swam and for making Kamehameha Swim Club the 2023 Short Course Hawaii State Champions! We had a lot of spectacular swims last weekend, listed below are some swims that stood out.
Congratulations to the three swimmers who received the high-point earners:
Amar’e San Diego won the high-point earner in the boys 11-12 age-group
Emma Lee won high-point earner in the girls 13-14 age-group
Sage Miller won the high-point earner in the girls 15-18 age-group (she also qualified for the Winter Junior National Championships in the 50 freestyle and 100 butterfly!)
Girls 10 and Under Division:
Alison Cox had a great meet with most of her times she swum being her best. Alison’s top performance was in her 100 butterfly where she placed in 2nd in the event and dropped more than 10 seconds with a time of 1:17.15. This time is also a new SWAGR qualifying time for Alison.
Boys 10 and Under Division:
Kai Matsuoka had a blistering 100 butterfly where he dropped almost 6 seconds to drop his time to 1:18.86, getting himself a new SWAGR qualifying time.
Girls 11-12 Division:
Sydney Zhao had a great race in her 100 butterfly where she dropped 3 seconds to finish with a new personal best time of 1:11.54.
Boys 11-12 Division:
Liko Lambert's 100 butterfly was a race to watch. Liko was in the outside lane and secured the top place finish in the event, dropping 6 seconds and finishing with a new personal best time of 1:03.93.
Girls 13-14 Division:
Kamakana Kaahaaina had best swims all weekend. The best performance from all of her swims was in her 200 Medley where she dropped almost 9 seconds and clocked in with a new personal best time of 2:22.06.
Boys 13-14 Division:
Jake Davidson swam his best performance in the 400 medley this weekend where he snuck under the 5-minute mark, dropping 48 seconds and clocking in at a time of 4:38.11.
Girls 15-18 Division:
Belise Swartwood was dropping time all last week. Out of all the performances Belises 100 Breaststroke was her best time drop with a final time of 1:05.48, dropping 4 seconds.
Boys 15-18 Division:
Nicholas Davidson had a great 200 breaststroke which he qualified for his first Senior Sectional meet with a time of 2:14.34, dropping 4 seconds.
Kamehameha Swim Coaches would like to congratulate all those that swam their hearts out last weekend. Thank you for all the volunteers that came out to make the meet possible.
