David Pool Head Coach

David has been coaching for 15 years.  This journey has taken him around the world holding positions in Great Britain, Australia, Canada and latterly Hong Kong.  He has developed an excellent knowledge of swimming and the structure of sport throughout the world.

David’s philosophy on training and developing swimmers is based on a holistic approach to managing all the facets that lead to performance. This includes the obvious technical development, skill development, physiological needs, sports psychology, recovery, sleep optimization, stress control, nutrition and strength and power development on land.

David’s aim is to help each student athlete realize their full potential, both as a competitive swimmer and as a human being.  To develop integrity and responsibility, he will strive to encourage self-awareness in all stages of the training process and encourage athletes to take ownership of their preparation and performance. With the right inspiration, he believes Stingrays kids can make their dreams come true.

During his time on-deck, he has guided his athletes towards great performances in the water while ensuring they continue to excel in their academic goals.  Many of his swimmers have gone on to study at top universities in GB, AUS, USA and CAN.  Some have also represented their countries at many International meets.
