The following information is for the 2022 Fall Season 

September 12 to mid to late February 2023

The Dowling Catholic Riptide Swim Club is open to all who want to join.  Each swimmer must have a basic understanding of the competitive swimming strokes, starts and turns as this is not a learn-to-swim program.  Each participant must have a willingness to work hard, be coachable and try to be the best they can be.  

Riptide Head Coach assigns each Riptide swimmer to a training group.  Tryout Information can be found HERE.

In addition to the fees listed below, there is a mandatory $80 USA Swimming membership fee. *NEW THIS YEAR* swimmers will register directly with USA Swimming so the fee will not be assessed at registration.  Details will be coming in September on how to register with USA Swimming. 

Intro

Swimmers in this group will typically be ages 9-12 years old and new to a swim team. They must be able to swim 25 yards freestyle and 25 yards backstroke. This group is stroke technique based and will be introduced to meet racing components. Local swim meets are encouraged.  

Session Fee: 5 payments of $90 paid at Registration, and the first of each month of October, November, December, and January

 

8 and Under

All swimmers 8 and under will swim in this group.  They must be able to swim 25 yards freestyle and 25 yards backstroke. This group is stroke technique based and will be introduced to meet racing components. Local swim meets are encouraged.   

Session Fee: 5 payments of $90 paid at Registration, and the first of each month of October, November, December, and January

 

Level 1

Swimmers in this group are typically ages 9-11 who have at least 1 year of swim team experience. Swimmers should be legal or nearly legal in all 4 strokes, legal turns, and competitive starts.  Swimmers must be also be able to swim 100 yards continuously in freestyle and backstroke. Practice will be 60 minutes.  Continuation of stroke technique will be emphasized. Training will consist of endurance and anaerobic sets. Pace clock reading will be emphasized as well as race strategy. Swimmers are encouraged to attend local meets.

Session Fee: 5 payments of $100 paid at Registration, and the first of each month of October, November, December, and January

 

Level 2

Swimmers in this group are generally ages 11 and older.  Swimmers must be able to swim all four competitive strokes with turns legally. Swimmers are expected to have the endurance for a full 90 minute practice.  Continuation of stroke technique will be emphasized. Training will consist of endurance and anaerobic sets. Pace clock reading will be emphasized as well as race strategy. Swimmers are encouraged to attend all meets. Current high school aged swimmers may swim in this group only if they do not swim for the Dowling High School Team. 

Session Fee: 5 payments of $155 paid at Registration, and the first of each month of October, November, December, and January

 
Senior (13 and Overs)

Swimmers in this group will be 13 years and older. Swimmers must be able to swim all four competitive strokes with turns legally, have mastered reading the pace clock and commit to train a minimum of six times per week. Stroke technique will be emphasized with training sets geared for high-end competition/meets. Swimmers will compete in all events offered in their age group. Swimmers should plan to attend local, out of town, and out of state meets as well as end of season Championship meets such as State, Sectionals, Futures, and Nationals. 

Session Fee: 5 payments of $190 paid at Registration, and the first of each month of October, November, December, and January

  

High School Program

This Group trains with the Senior Group, but only swim with Riptide outside of their high school swim season.  After high school season, the boys are encouraged to return to Riptide to participate in the Championship meets in late February/early March.  

Boys Session Fee: 2 payments of $190 paid at Registration, and the first of October

Girls Session Fee: 3 payments of $190 paid at Registration, and the first of each month of December, and January
