Fall Tryout Flyer

 

TRYOUTS FOR THE 2021 Fall SEASON WILL BE HELD Sep 9 at 6 PM, Sep 10 at 6 PM, and Sep 12 at 12:30 PM. NEW MEMBERS MUST ATTEND ONE TRYOUT SESSION. THE TRYOUT FLYER CAN BE FOUND ON THE HOME PAGE BY CLICKING ON THE 'TRYOUT FLYER' LINK WHICH IS MIDWAY DOWN THE HOME PAGE.

 

The following information is for the 2021 Fall Season 

September 13 to mid to late February 2022

The Dowling Catholic Riptide Swim Club is open to all who want to join.  Each swimmer must have a basic understanding of the competitive swimming strokes, starts and turns as this is not a learn-to-swim program.  Each participant must have a willingness to work hard, be coachable and try to be the best they can be.  

Riptide Head Coach assigns each Riptide swimmer to a training group.

In addition to the fees listed below, there is a mandatory $80 USA Swimming membership fee that will be assessed. $20 of this fee is non-refundable.  This is a mandatory fee.  I

Intro

Swimmers in this group will generally be 12 years old and younger and new to a swim team. They must be able to swim 25 yards freestyle and 25 yards backstroke. This group is stroke technique based and will be introduced to meet racing components. Local swim meets are encouraged.  Lead Coach-Shannan Schoening

Session Fee: 5 payments of $84 paid at Registration, and the first of each month of October, November, December, and January

 

8 and Under

Swimmers must be able to know all four competitive strokes, and be working toward doing them legally.  This group will focus on stroke technique.  They will be introduced to reading a pace clock and beginning race strategy.  Swimmers are encouraged to attend local meets.  Lead Coach-Luke Halsch

Session Fee: 5 payments of $84 paid at Registration, and the first of each month of October, November, December, and January

 

9 - 10 year olds

Swimmers must be able to swim all four competitive strokes with generally legally. Continuation of stroke technique will be emphasized. Training will consist of endurance and anaerobic sets. Pace clock reading will be emphasized as well as race strategy. Swimmers are encouraged to attend local meets.  Lead Coach-Luke Halsch.

Session Fee: 5 payments of $94 paid at Registration, and the first of each month of October, November, December, and January

 

11 - 12 yeaer olds

Swimmers must be able to swim all four competitive strokes with turns legally. Continuation of stroke technique will be emphasized. Training will consist of endurance and anaerobic sets. Pace clock reading will be emphasized as well as race strategy. Swimmers are encouraged to attend meets. Lead Coach-Paul Eure

Session Fee: 5 payments of $149 paid at Registration, and the first of each month of October, November, December, and January

 
Senior (13 and Overs)

Swimmers in this group will be 13 years and older. Swimmers must be able to swim all four competitive strokes with turns legally, have mastered reading the pace clock and commit to train a minimum of six times per week. Stroke technique will be emphasized with training sets geared for high-end competition/meets. Swimmers will compete in all events offered in their age group. Swimmers are to attend local, out of town, and out of state meets as well as end of season Championship meets such as State, Sectionals, Futures, and Nationals. Lead Coach-Arkady Lichinsky

High School Program

This Group trains with the Senior Group, but only swim with Riptide outside of their high school season.  After high school season, the boys are encouraged to return to Riptide to participate in the Championship meets in late February/early Marcy.  Lead Coach-Arkady Lichinsky

Boys Session Fee: 2 payments of $182 paid at Registration, and the first of October

Girls Session Fee: 3 payments of $182 paid at Registration, and the first of each month of December, and January
